Hello. I am mutley the magician living in Hernebay, kent UK. Just bought a new Trident from Maidstone laguna. Not my first Triumph but sadly on my ride home the engine management light came on. They have not been able to trace the fault but it is believed to be the valve adjusrment and requires 4 hours on the operating table. So only after 79 miles it's now in the shop for sick and injured bikes. I did say I have lost confidence and would rather reject the bike as I have only owned it days but after advice it appears I have to give the dealer time to resolve the issues. To be fair on the team they have given me the loan of a nice RS and will cover all costs on the 600 mile service. The other issue is accessories. I ticked alot of extras but only the heated grips and phone USB were fitted on my collection day. They do not even know when the other things will arrive. So no Bluetooth module, pillion bars, engine protection or sump cover let alone the tank bag and protection pad. Dealership was adamant this is not just an issue with Triumph but other makes on their floor we're also starved of parts. So not a great start and I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with optional extras or with the new trident . I feel laguna have helped some way but I am actually fuming to be in this situation. If I had known in advance about part shortage I might have not bought new.
The parts I read about my consumer rights gave alot of pit falls in rejection though. I read in other googled information that it is prudent to give the dealer time to resolve issues. Was also warned I might not necessarily recover the full amount as it is now registered in my name . New product, so I understand they will get a lemon now and then so I have decided to give them a week. After that I will be forced to either look at going on the increasing waiting list for another Trident or .... buying a RS which was my 2nd choice anyway. If they add Bluetooth and heated grips the demo RS model they loaned me today would suffice lol
Am sure you've already looked but here is another link, this time for Money Saving Expert https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/consumer-rights-refunds-exchange/#goods
Hi and welcome to the forum That takes the edge of the new bike but at least they are sorting it for you. I picked up my Tiger 900 last August without the lower crash bars I ordered - they finally arrived at the end of November and I fitted them myself.
Rob Lavers. Wow that's a real bummer. But welcome to the family anyway. And I do believe you can reject the bike if not as advertised and not fit for purpose. And I do think I would be very upset that a new bike is broken down already. Your dealer may be great but you are the customer and the law is on your side. And I do think that any bill then would go back to triumph. Really is a big let down. Joe.
Leave your bike there UNTIL they have done absolutely everything you asked for. It's not your fault at all and a totally reasonable thing to do imo. Without the protection, you might scratch it and really pee yourself off even more.
Hi mate & Welcome. I know how you feel- I bought a new Suzuki DR350 years ago & it got stuck in 3rd gear on the way back home. I got back to the shop in 3rd. After it was fixed I rode it home, & forgot all about it until now. No more problems in the 7 years I had it.
Welcome to the forum. I understand your frustration and feeling a bit deflated at the moment. Hope it soon becomes a distant memory like @foxy52 described. Hope you enjoy the forum.
Greetings, Rob, and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to read about the situation with your new bike. It definitely takes the lustre off the whole new bike purchase experience. Hope you get it sorted soon and to your satisfaction.
Hey Rob, I feel your pain, I don't have any bike woes with my new Scrambler 1200, I ordered a set of Unit Garage panniers and top case and they arrived in five days, which I consider pretty good since I live in Hawaii and they are made in Italy. They only took about an hour and a half to install an look awesome. My issues are with my Corvette. Its been sitting in the shop in pieces for over a month waiting for Chevy to produce a new fuel tank, which they don't seem to be in a hurry to do.
Thanks for the kind hellos Trident still unwell but I have the very good street triple RS as a loan. The issue appears to be valve clearance not set correctly at the factory. It should be put back together today , tested and collect tomorrow if all goes well. Then I have the embarrassing 40 mile ride home on a middleweight bike that is restricted to 50 mph for another 500 miles. Hey ho. It is what it is and I'm sure it'll be OK soon. Plus been offered some extras now for my pain.
Hope your bike is ok for a long time. Maybe there are secondary twisty roads you can take to get home ? A friend purchased a tiger 900 rally, he ordered the upper and lower protection, the bike was delivered with only the lower bars. After a few months he cancelled and purchased a set of SW motech protection bars.
