Thruxton Quick Cosmetic Mod

I just polished the fake alloy air filter covers on my TT1200, the thinking being that they pretend to be pancake filters which back in the day were chrome, this was just 10 mins with a polishing mop to see what it would look like, to get them spot on I’ll have to use some 1500 wet and dry to get the brushing lines out then polish again, what do you recon?

 

Cheers Joe, yes just a quick job to see how they’ll look at mo, especially in the first photo you can see the brush lines that Triumph put on, so once I’ve got those out with fine paper I’ll give them a really good mopping with Zephyr, they’ll come up like chrome then, the good news is they are not anodised so not a difficult job to polish.

 

Yes the covers again aren’t anodised so soon look scruffy if you don’t want to keep polishing them up, that said all I’ve done with mine is polish them with autosol on a rag and then spray with Muccoff bike protect about 6 months ago, but it doesn’t go out on wet roads so that’s enough, good idea to go to black if you’re using it on wet roads etc.
