Am I being a tart or do you think the spring and bracket should be black. Might get one fitted ....... additional weight puts me off a little though.
I’ve just looked and it weighs 3.6 kg which is nothing compared to 220 kg fuelled bike and with the weight being low down you’ll not feel it, the spring and bracket look fine to me, if your not keen get them powder coated, the bike should come standard with a main stand with it being such a lump, if I end up keeping mine I’ll probably get one, what’s the best price you’ve seen it at?.
Have not looked yet ....as jury still out on wether I need one as I have mine garaged on paddock stands. I take your point regards weight.
i have had mine fitted for 2 years now and it is a good quality product and easy to fit.(need to use ratchet strap to fit spring). It have never caught on anything when off road and makes servicing no much easier and safer than using swing arm stand. front wheel and be lifted with small jack under the sump.
it’s not too difficult to put spring on with a small ratchet strap, you may be able to see it done on YouTube.
Thanks for the info Shaun. I’m still deciding wether I would use the stand as I have the bike on paddock stands and have an extended toe on the side stand. Suppose it would be useful plugging a puncture or chain lubrication when on a long ride out .
I’ve ordered a main stand today from Moto-bins £201 including delivery 7-10 working days, I’ll let you know how I go with it, I want the stand mainly for washing the bike which is a bind just on the side stand, I’ve got a ABBA sky lift which is good but a piss on just to wash the bike,.
Anyone coming to this thread late (like I did) I’ve just fitted the hepco Becker stand to my xe. I got mine from tradeinn in Spain, as was cheaper than I could find in uk. Cost inc postage £217, and took about 10 days to arrive. I fitted the double spring by:- Propping the stand in its highest position, and using 2 long screwdrivers. 1 fat one to lever against the stand crossbeam, and 1 long thin one to lever against the receiver pin and coax the hook down over the pin. Very scary experience , but I did it Recommend you have a friend hold the front locator on with a bar or similar, as the first time I tried, it nearly flew off! or …..wear the brown pants
