Been looking into different seat options for my silver 2019 Speed Twin. I have a Corbin that came with it, it's comfortable enough but I don't like the look and can't use it with a TEC luggage rack. This shop "Favorite9Biker" on Etsy has caught my eye: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Favorite9Biker?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=822179925 Handmade leather seats out of Thailand. https://www.etsy.com/listing/822179925/triumph-speed-twin-real-leather-seat?ref=shop_home_active_21 Really like the look but before I drop $450 + freight and I would love to know if it was comfortable.
Did you end up purchasing a seat from favorite9rider on ETSY? I was eyeing one of their leather seats as well.
Nope. I decided to sell the Speed Twin for a Tiger 900 hopefully come spring. Between a custom seat and new front and rear suspension, it would have been another $2k+ into the bike and still wouldn't quite be what I am looking for. I will say this though, when I mesaaged him he was a little pushy about getting my order in, and even offered a $50 discount when I told him I wasn't ready to buy yet. (Before the holidays, so maybe his business was slow‽) I probably would have taken him up on it but I was still evaluating the bike at the time.
I ended up pulling the trigger, the more I looked at them the more I wanted one, just hope I don't end up disappointed.
So I received the seat today. Things I liked, the quality of leather looks good, craftsmanship good and looks great on the bike. The seat is also a little narrower, shorter and more low profile all of which I personally like. However, it doesn’t seem as comfortable as the original. This doesn’t really bother me as this is my city cruiser and don’t go on long distance rides. Things that could of been better is the fit. It’s not as secure as the oem, there’s a little play when you sit and slightly shifts when you sit on the seat, nothing drastic but enough for it to bother me so I’ll try to find a solution to that, maybe find a rubber sleeve to put on the front lip that secures the seat. There was also some play to the rear when pressure is applied, easy fix by just removing the rubber washer from the oem and fixing it to the rear locking pin. Overall, satisfied.
I think ot looks sharp! (Say what you will, I like the retro brown seats...) I am sorry to hear it's less comfortable than stock, I didn't think such a thing was possible.. Maybe it will break in? I suspect a few cleverly places rubber washers will tighten up the fit. Thanks for sharing.
