Who wants to ride the other bike anyway, when you've a Speedmaster at hand, (or foot)

Congrats on the delivery of your Speedmaster. Bought one (red and black) in November 2020. I feel your pain with having to wait for it. It was bad for me too, because it was parked in my garage and I couldn't ride it. I'd go out and sit on it and make vroom vroom noises. See, I bought mine across the river in Philly on 11/16/20. They don't do temp tags for Jersey. I had to go to NJ MVC and register it myself. I went to the closest NJ MVC facility to register it that day (Medford, NJ) and was turned away. Appointments only, I was told, due to COVID and you had to set it up on line. WTF?! I went home and the first opening available was on 12/4/20, so I made the appointment...and waited. On 12/2/20 I got an email that the Medford office had been closed indefinitely and all appointments were canceled. I guess someone sneezed. Sheesh!!! I made another appointment for the first opening I found, which was in Blackwood, NJ on 12/24/20. My appointment was right before closing time. I filled out the forms amd waited my turn. When I got to the window the woman hands me a car registration plate. Again, WTF?! She didn't know that in the box for "Type of vehicle" that "MC" meant motorcycle - ??? She said they were closing and I'd have to make another appointment and come back.. She didn't have the time to redo the registration. NO! IVE WAITED SIX WEEKS FOR THIS! I WANT TO TALK TO YOUR BOSS!! I was a little loud. The NJ trooper stationed there starts walking over. The manager comes over. Now, the trooper (about as big as a tree) is standing over my shoulder. I'm a retired cop myself. I broke tin on the trooper (cop-talk for showing him my badge) and told him and the manager that I've been making payments on the bike AND paying insurance on the bike for over six weeks and I can't ride it. God only knows when I'll get another appointment. Have a heart, will ya? The manager (nice lady) banged out the proper documents and gave me my MC plate. Whew!

That is terrible. I can relate but that is worse than my experience last week.when they handed me the bill it was about $700 more than I expected. Kansas didn’t charge sales tax... Az did at the time of registration! Ouch!

    anyway. Added mirrors and seat.

for the record, the kickstand is different and the part didn’t fit. I gambled and lost lol

First thing I did was replace the "Space Antenna" mirrors. And yeah, Pennsy didn't charge sales tax, but when I registered in NJ they stuck me for $800. Bastids!
Kickstand, ha!...I had a big 'ol Harley years ago and parked on the lot of a motel in Wildwood, NJ on a 90+ day. When I came back the kick stand had sunk six inches into the asphalt. I just carry a puck in the saddlebag now.
Good luck with your new ride!

    Got more stuff done...

    mid controls
    Fly screen
    Tank knee pads

the controls was a decent undertaking. Big thanks for the instructions I was provided. The exhaust reassembly kicked our butt. Go figure.

I really like the bike now. My short legs hated the stock forward controls. I still try to put my legs back to rear sets!

Ack! You moved the controls backwards to mid-mounts!?
To each his own (or her own, to be PC and woke, I guess). I believe you confessed to being a sport bike rider. I suppose that is what you are more accustomed to.
I'm 6'2" and find the stock controls to be just a bit cramped. I was looking for ways to extend my legs. I think I'm going to put highway bars (hate calling them crash bars) on it and then attach highway pegs to them so I can stretch out on the long hauls. Good on ya, though, for making it more to your liking and comfort.

Observations about the Bonneville. It gets comments every time I ride it. Old folks say something about a Triumph they had when they were young. Harley riders even say ‘nice bike’. A legit patched club guy from northern Ca stopped to talk to me. Said, ‘I always liked those bikes. Cool ride, man’

Starts conversations everywhere. Very unexpected. I have talked to people I probably would not have without the bike. That is pretty cool. Maybe the word needs more people riding motorcycles.

My buddy snd I were hanging out in the shop. We couldn’t work on our pending projects and couldn’t go riding because he was watching his girlfriend’s kids. So, we made some valve stem covers out of some 303 Brit shells from my Enfield. Seemed fitting. lol

    Silly, but fun.

loving the bike. Been riding it to work mostly. Once we get back from our Vegas trip, we’ll go out for some scenic rides and take some pictures. Ironically, my buddy bought a bike similar to my other bike. lol
