Agreed. It seems a pointless exercise to me, most of Europe has committed to banning the sale of petrol/diesel vehicles in the not to distant future. All of these new regs are plucked out of the air by unelected pen pushers. Give it 10 years and pollution will drop on it's own.

 

In the next 10 years or so their will certainly be a reduction in pollution but also a significant reduction in the amount of privately owned cars and vans in favour of service based cars.

For those living in larger conurbations all you will need is an app on your phone and a driverless car arrives at your location in minutes to take you wherever you want to go.

No road tax, no insurance, maintenance or repairs to pay for. I for one can't wait.

 

And a massive black hole in collected taxes along with loss of freedom. Not looking forward to that.

 

That's what concerns me!

 

Driverless cars are some way off yet. It’s an incredibly difficult problem to solve to the level needed for them to be generally acceptable on the road.

 

Just think of something you enjoy - that'll be what they will tax!

 

Did that once to get to the rugby - can't say that I will be rushing to sample the delights of La peripherique again any time soon!

Riding on le Peripherique all days of the year on my BMW K100 was my life between 1991 and 1995.. I'm a survivor.

 

I've read that UK - EU have done a deal where they will now recognise a GB & Union flag on our number plates in place of the GB oval, also no international driving permit required, still need "green card" insurance (which I assume is still just page 2 on your insurance certificate).

 

Our government and European governments are gradually sucking the fun out of life

 

I probably saw you as I commuted in a taxi between cite universitaire and parc des expositions during the same period. It would have been easier to get the train but someone else was paying. And Chatlet-Les Halles smelt like a urinal...

FFMC called for some protest. It was not really followed, and mainly in big cities.
I'm personally not a fan of FFMC. They are against everything systematically. In that particular case it's against bikers safety and facts.
The good old dilemma, perceived freedom vs safety.

 

The only time I have had to wait in a queue on my bike was behind M Farmer and his herd of cows……. Quite disturbing as they were bigger than me! But as for actual traffic queues, I haven’t seen one in 2 1/2 years but as I avoid cities, that’s why.

 

From last week the "interfile" facility is allowed again in France. Not sure someone stopped to do it anyway (first concerned).
