Cheese is made for biscuits or sandwiches. Not putting on CAKE. Unless the cake is really awful. You lot up North have strange tastes. But Lancashire is a great county. .....

    50 + 50 – 25 x 0 + 2 + 2 = 104

    Yes really it’s 104.

25x0 needs to be in brackets for it to work

Only if the 25x0 is in brackets. Otherwise it's 4
I admit I failed O leveI maths first time in about 1964, but I make the answer 4.

    Not necessarily.

When a sum is written like that (without any brackets) you perform the operations in the following sequence:

    1 Do the multiplications. In this case 25 x 0 = 0
2 Then the divisions. None in this case
3 Then the additions. In this case 50+50+0+2+2=104
4 Then the subtractions. None in this case.

    So the answer is 104.

    4?

But only if you want the wrong answer as the correct one is 104. Operand priority is multiplication first then + and - unless there are parenthesis in which case you solve those first. Figwold got it 110% right (a mathematician joke there!).

Since we got that solved perhaps move on to some more tricky ones. How about Hilbert’s Problems or maybe the Collatz Conjecture?

You wrote 'without any brackets' in brackets so that means its null and void :p

Ah, but you’re from Ireland, which means you must take away the number you first thought of ...

And multiply by a googleplex to the power of Graham’s Number - 1

Edit: Best buy a big calculator first though... you may spend a while typing it all in, so a nice cup of tea might help pass the time.
