    Hello triumph friends
i am having trouble on what i tought it was a straight forward swap.

I bought some H4 Led to swap for my old halogen original headlight bulbs and LED presence bulbs, when i connect both h4 LED lamps and LED presence small bulbs and rotate the key nothing happens. The battery is new i even bought a new battery because the older was almost dead.

i check the fuses all ok.

i disconnect all the LED Lamps and disconnect the battery, then connect the battery again and i get power and crank the bike normally without any bulbs on the front. Then i start connecting the LED lamps while the bike is running, all seem to work fine. turn it off and on again and nothing happens again. Need to disconnect the batery again. Could this be a relay? Or simply the S3 from 2010 doesnt like any LED headlights on the front?

if someone could give some hints on what to look for or change in order the LED headlights work

    thanks to all in advance.

The 2010 Speed Triple will not work if the headlights do not turn on
For the small daylight running bulbs, are the LED polar? check they are plugged in the right way round (50/50 chance) it could one or both bulbs in wrong
For the H4 bulbs this would not apply as H4 bulbs only go in one way

I know if the headlight fuse is removed, the bike wont start - so maybe having an LED bulb is having a similar effect

Also - LED bulbs in a halogen unit will be an MOT failure for 2021 ! - not relevant for Portugal :D

Edit - just re-read you post, so it works with the bulbs not in there! hmm,

Also, it may be better going for some complete LED units (check Wisamic LED round headlights on Amazon)

actually the bike cranks if i have no headlights connected, and that is strange. Concerning the small LED presence lights, i guess if the polarity was wrong they would not turn on, older LED did that but i guess that isnt a problem anymore these days.
Also my alarm is going crazy for no reason, everytime it activates itself it goes off. A mistery i need some time around to figure out. the alarm is factory fitted from triumph.

i guess its not related to any headlight relay.

another thing, my h4 led bulbs is just the lamp with some cooling heatskin on the back and the basic plug, i saw some with some kind of box between the plug and the bulb some kind of rectifier, could i have the wrong kit and need to search for a bulb with the rectifier box?

well i been around the issue, and it had nothing to do with the lights aparently, it was some eletrical malfunction or bad contact somewhere in the eletrical system. this is what i did that resolved the issue
-removed all fuses and put them back firmly
-removed all relays and plugged them back in
-re arranged all wires near the battery

when i turned the key i heard a click coming from one of the relays, the horn was functioning and nothing else worked, the instrument cluster was completly off . i pushed all the light buttons and pass etc.

then i kept hearing that click on the relays and the alarm light flashing according to the relay clicks.
after removing all relays and plugging them again the bike came back to life and everything works fine including the LED bulbs.

i guess it was nothing to do with the lights or battery.

the bike is 10 years old but now looks a bit more modern and gained a new life with LED all around.

anyway all good now. Just need to test the headlights. these bulbs are very powerfull i am concerned i will bother incoming traffic. the presence leds bulbs are also very strong and have various leds around it. that doesnt help. i considering removing the presence leds bulbs or getting weaker ones since the low beam are always on in these bikes.

anyway will take some pics later today so i can get people opinions on my newest mod.

Excellent, well done. One thing l will say, is don't use the kill switch to turn off the engine. I've had little starting problems with all my Triumphs if l use the kill switch. Something about the ECU l've been told. :)

i am going to take some pics, you guys going to like this S3 it has some unique parts into it specially if you like older round bug eyes S3.

next thing is ecu based quickshifter for upshifting, lets see if i can make this work, never saw anyone adapt a ecu enabled quickshifter on these older S3. Hope the gearbox get along.
