    Just bought this as a project, looks ok in the photo but is cosmetically challenged. I will be looking for various spares as I go along and information. I’ll post a list of stuff I need in the wanted section as I go along but definitely need some exhausts, indicators and a side panel as it has a very dodgy repair under the chequered flag sticker!!

    Will watch with interest. I’ve been looking for a Hinckley triumph to go with the newer stuff I’ve got.

    Doesn't look too bad from where I am, Ian.:)
    Most of what you are looking for seem to be available from breakers and ebay. Shouldn't be too difficult to spruce it up a bit from what we can see. I believe the fairing lowers are after market accessories.
    There are a few of us on here with bikes from that era:cool:, so help should be readily available.

    I made a start over the weekend and as you can see it’s all a bit rough in places.
    The fairing lowers have been taken off and if anyone wants them then just let me know.

    Another T3 owner! Nice one. You're joining what sometimes seems to be an ever-growing group searching in an ever-diminishing pool of spares for replacement parts that are usually more than 20 years old, no longer made and, more often than not, no longer available! Prepare yourself for a LOT of frustration and disappointment.

    Total Triumph near Taunton seems (somehow) to have garnered a lot of disposable - miscellaneous - early Hinckley stock and it might be worth a speculative call or search ebay for the seller " thetotaltriumph " shop. Their postal charges, however, are a bit rich - though I do concede that they, of course, have to pay their overheads and stay in business in these troubled times. I just recently posted a pair of genuine Triumph T3 fork protectors to Mr. Moofo and managed to save him close to £7 on postal charges ...... assuming they reach him safe and sound! Same deal is offered to anyone else interested.

    Anyway, as a dedicated T3 'enthusiast' I'll follow your progress with interest and wish you luck with the project.

    I’ll have a look at Total Triumph and see what they have but so far it looks like things are cosmetic and just down to cleaning the carbs, replacing break hoses, and a repaint

    You make a good point about spares Adie. I have a 2016 Sprint GT and already there are already many parts listed on the various spares sites as "no longer available". I recently broke an indicator/mirror and that was a devil of a job getting one off fleabay. I want to keep my bike for a lot longer, but the spares situation will probably mean I won't be able to. Maybe buy a crash-damaged one to cannibalise?[/QUOTE]

    Quick update.

    pulled the carbs and air box out today and it looks like the air filter hasn’t been changed at all!!
    Anyone had any experience of ditching the standard air ox and installing pod filters? I would presume that I would need to re-jet?

    Many years ago, I put K&Ns on an RD250 and junked the air box. Performance was awful - the air box helps provide a reservoir of stable air. So, I would suggest to keep standard air-box, but use a high-flow (K&N type) air filter. Worked great on my old Aprilia Falco.

    If the OEM standard airbox is OK then I'd advise going down the K&N filter route - they're available from SPRINT Mfg.

    They can be cleaned and re-oiled. Trevor at Sprint can advise on whether or not any rejetting is required - likewise for pod filters.

    They used to advise using a thin bead of silicone when re-assembling and re-using the airbox as the factory always stated that the airbox was not meant to be disassembled but was replaced as a whole unit at the service interval. You're likely to find that, eventually, the 'self tapping' type screws that hold the airbox together will no longer form a decent air seal at the joint so it's probably worth having a spare airbox if you're going to be a long term owner. ;)

    The air box is cracked at one side and has been bodged with silicone so I will have to source a spare air box and get the K&N filter. Just put in an order to Trevor at sprint for the fuel tap rebuild kit, intake rubbers and a few other bits so will give him a call in the morning and see what he thinks is the way forward.

    He usually has a few used airboxes so, with luck, he'll be able to sort you out! Hope it all gets sorted for you.

    K&N filter in a standard air box. Works for me, and has done so for many years. Air box is a right royal PITA to get off and replace, so K&N filter being (allegedly) a 'fit and forget' jobby makes perfect sense, especially as the air boxes are quite brittle/fragile.

    I have '98 sprint executive , fuel tap repair kit isn't usually good enough. Replace whole tap ! I had an issue with my tap. I think the main cause of the fuel leaking into the carb's , air box and or cylinders. Was caused by the black plastic knob had broken on the inside drive where it mount's onto the fuel tap spindle. This caused it to be loose and not fully positive drive. So fuel tap was staying partially on/in the prime setting. Prime manually lifts vacuum diaphragm to allow fuel to flow when engine isn't running.
    I fixed the mounting point to spindle drive no fuel leaks since !!

    Running K&N in stock box on Bonnie SE but removed 90 degree angle air intake piece on front of box behind side panel. Seems like a large air friction factor.
