Have to admit to doing something similar whilst lost in Trier, Germany last year.
Stuck the phone in the side of my open face to listen to the satnav directions - got me out of the city and on the right road - but only recommended for a short time as an emergency measure.

Phones, Sat navs, ipads, ipods, even playing with cameras - the list is endless. Ever watched as someone lights a cigarette whilst driving - and th hey call that legal. Just watch for the bafoon behind the wheel. Stay safe all...

our car is ridiculous. Everything is low down in the middle and just to alter the heater you have to take your eyes off the road and look down into the middle of the dash. Stupid idea

I think all this "connected" business in cars is just dangerous rubbish. It encourages drivers to almost anything but focus on their driving. Allowing this to continue is an ideal example of how governments around the world really care about road safety. If they were genuinely interested to reduce accidents they would just tell the car manufacturers to install a devices that stops all the devices once the engine is turning, or certainly when a gear is selected.

After all, nowadays many cars have some for of television in them but the driver is prohibited from watching whilst driving by various methods.

The car guys don't give a flying fig about us, the consumers and our safety - they just build things that will sell to the thoughtless millions.

When the Police start to report the true cause of modern day accidents and the figures start to seep through that on-board communications technology causes more accidents than drink-driving - then and only then might we see some changes.

It's not about 'hands-free' this or that - it's about having distracting conversations whilst driving, taking brain power away from the safe control of a potentially lethal weapon.

Start heavily fining the companies who phone their drivers, send a text that should by law only be read at a safe place to park up for the employee to contact base.
    Make it both parties responsibility.

"Form over Function" mate - the design and look of something being more important than it's ability to do it's job.

Those bloody stupid indicators annoy the hell out of me. You can hardly see the things. They aren't safe at all. Hands free can be very distracting anyway. I tried it and really didn't like it (and there was no excuse not to answer the phone to the wiffi).

Few years back, wearing hi vis blood runner kit and on a Pan European. Pulled up at the lights next to a bloke texting on his phone. Just tapped on his window and shook a finger at him. He dropped the phone and nearly shat himself.
I did hear of a chap who leaned in through an open car window, plucked the phone from the user's ear and deposited it on the roof of the car in front.

A couple of years ago some tart in an open top Peugeot was yakking away on her phone at Bell lights (on red), so, me on my Bonnie snatched it out of her hand and chucked on the rear seat!!
Didn't see the reaction as lights went green and I'm off!
