    I know :confused:
    But I haven’t really been able to ride it yet :sob:
    So I find myself watching loads of videos on bikes and I have a soft spot for Triumph twins :cool:

    5 minutes in the saddle of one of these (in standard trim) would see you being craned off it with your shoulders locked, neck in agony and knees in spasm.

    But, heck, Dilli, if you've got the itch - you have to scratch, right? ;):)

    Like you I love the triumph twins and the thruxton is definitely a go to bike for me. Pity triumph won't fix the squealing brakes on the speed twin otherwise I would still have that bike.... and I love watching videos on bikes, any bikes to be honest :)

    ARG. I have put off fitting a tail tidy trying to convince myself it looked better as its
    maker intended. Alas I can no longer do so. On the brightside thats tomorrow's job sorted.

    If you find extra cash burning a hole in your pockets why not have a look at Doug Richardson Wheel Building. Based in Devon he took my original TTR wheels replaced the spokes,nipples and rims with stainless steel and converted them to tubeless tyres. The wheels look in my opinion, much better, no tubes to worry about and I had a tube disintergrate whilst on a test ride, scary to say the least. They are heavier but it hasn't reduced the sheer pleasure of riding the bike and they will last a lifetime or two.

    I've had a few issues with the engine cases on my TTR, and given that I also like a bit of black on my bikes I've decided to go for a "black conversion" a la the new RS model.

    I'm going for the two engine cases & bolts, the sprocket cover and the air intake covers. Triumph don't make black heel guards for the Thruxton so I need to decide whether to get mine powder coated, to go for some aftermarket Union Jack jobbies that I've found on squaredeals.com or to leave them as-is. Anyway, it'll be done towards the end of January and I'll post some photos thereafter.

    I have a suspicion that I'll also end up changing the two side panels as the RS panels seem to match everything else better but I'll hold off on that for now and see how I feel about it first.

    Are the engine case issues anything to do with corrosion spots???
    I keep thinking of doing something similar with my 1200S although ACF50 seems to have stopped the problem, it’s still annoying seeing small areas of corrosion spotting
    Will be interested to see how yours goes and what your thoughts are. Are you doing the ‘rocker boxes’ as well?

    Yes, I'm getting pitting on the engine cases, and that's despite giving the bike a good coating of ACF-50 a while back. It seems that riding through the winter will require cleaning/polishing and retreating after almost every ride if I want them to stay pristine, and that's not something I'm prepared to do.

    As I said, I'm going for the two engine cases and bolts, the sprocket cover and the air intake covers. I already have aftermarket Union Jack throttle body covers that are black enough so from what I can see that'll just leave the heel guards to make a decision on. I can't see anything else that I've missed or that needs changing - the valve covers are fine as they are, I think.

    Agreed having to clean everything every time you go out is a real PITA, especially if you use the bike daily!!
    If you can guarantee the coating on the heel guard matched the casings I’d be minded to get it done, however if you can’t get an exact match I’d leave as is....
