    Hello,

I used to me a member on her a while back then (different users name) the site was .co.uk unless I'm mistaken. That's what my toolbox stickers say anyway. At that time I had 6 sports bikes, one of which was a series 1 shape 955i Daytona in red.

Since last here I outed the Daytona along with another 2 bikes and bought a Ducati SuperSport S which is a great bike but littered with faults and niggles.

I've owned the Ducati from new but I don't trust it and so I have agreed a trade-in on a Thruxton RS in black. Like when I purchased the Ducati, it is my intention to keep the Thruxton long term. I'm quite confident that the quality of a second generation Trumpet won't leave the bad taste in my mouth in the way the Ducati has.

First order of the day will be a tail tidy, I want to modify a Triumph one and benefit from the OEM quality and weather protection that the moulded under tray gives. I have used the search function but there isn't a thread that answers my query so I will have to post another tail tidy thread - sorry in advance.

    Regards,

    Matt.

Welcome to the forum. The Triumph tail tidy has a center section that can be easily removed. You will just have to file a small notch in the end section. Very easy to do

    Hi Andy,

Yes, I've read that on here, what is confusing me is that there appear to be 3 different options. There is the multifunction one with the alloy plate which covers where the the rear tail light would go and there two others; The first is a plastic item and the second is metal and is the one I've seen where people ditch the second section. My query is that Triumph only appear to list the first 2 now and that the metal one appears to have been discontinued - unless someone can tell me different?

It looks like the plastic one could also be modified, but not with as good results as the metal one, but the metal one does not come up on the configurator which is what makes me think it's been discontinued.

I done it with mine, a Thruxton R. I don't have the bike any more but it was a metal tail tidy. wasn't aware they are plastic now. If they are discontinued, some dealers may still have the metal one laying about in stock or keep checking the likes of ebay I suppose

Thanks, I've just found a new one on eBay, they're showing more than 10 available and so have made an offer. The eBay listing confirms that it has now been discontinued. I guess they have done that due to cost of manufacture and possibly weight. It's a shame as the plastic one won't lend itself to modification in the same way as the metal one.

    Thanks for the replies. :)

Welcome to the forum, Vegan Flea! Good luck with your parts search. Looking forward to a pic of that Thruxton RS in black when you take ownership. ;)

    Hi matt!
ducatitotriumph is my name for a reason and it's exactly your predicament too!
Enjoy the bike and adding extras that are littered about and recommended on here.
As for the tail tidy, i'd buy a secondhand one to cut about first so you can get it right before hack/slash operating procedures commence!

Cheers, I've already received the tail tidy from Total Triumph via eBay, massive bargain, they accepted my offer of £60 including postage - it's a £190 part. It's all brand new, still in it's packaging and looks a doddle to modify. I just need the bike now...
Link to the tidy for anyone interested; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
