Not really begging but wanted to share this charity. I for one remember waking Christmas morning know I would not receive a present so I have chipped in here. This one is from my work and every penny goes to the fund. Plus GSK add a donation to top it up. If you are feeling flush then throw a few pence to see a child smile. If not i love you all the very same.
    Joe.

    • This Christmas we are all doing things differently – including having virtual team festive get togethers. So why not do the same for Secret Santa?

It was estimated that around 4.2 million children in the UK are currently living in poverty. Through our partnership with Save the Children we could put a gift under the tree for some of those children, who have been hardest hit by the pandemic.

Whether you choose to pick a gift as an individual or as a team of Santa’s, your donations will go toward providing children living in material deprivation with toys designed to improve their educational outcomes, despite the financial barriers they face.

It is well renowned that children from low-income families are 50% less likely to do as well as in primary school as their peers - and when children fall behind, it’s almost impossible to catch up.

Every child deserve a gift at Christmas.

Your donation, no matter how small, can give those children the play and learning toys needed to build up vital skills for school, from math to hand-eye coordination to social skills.

Every child deserves a gift this Christmas.

Gifts start from £5, and all donations are matched by GSK. Find the full selection from our fundraising platform: https://uk.gsk-stcfundraising.com/give-a-gift-for-christmas.

£5 – On the farm dominoes
Daytime farm themed dominoes, ideal for improving matching and symmetry skills for children aged between 12-24 months.

£10 – Maths book and mini counting fish
The Math Play Early Learning Pack helps children aged 3-5 explore their early numeracy and develop vital skills to get them ready for school.

£20 – Peter Rabbit and storybook
Books not only help develop children’s reading and language skills, but they also improve children’s imagination and provide children special time with their parents.

      £30 – Argos gift card
These help families missing essential items, such as a table to eat at or a bed to sleep in.

Save the Children’s Building Blocks programme

Through funds raised by employees, GSK is supporting Save the Children’s work in the UK which aims to narrow the education gap between children living on low-income and their better off peers.

The “Building Blocks” programme that GSK currently supports, focuses on helping the UK’s most disadvantaged families at home, from supporting pregnant mothers, to equipping parents with the tools and knowledge they need to support their child’s learning as they grow. The programme is currently being piloted in six areas across the UK; Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Feltham, Margate and Sheffield.

By raising funds for Building Blocks, GSK is helping to ensure eligible families have access to essential household items that are too often missing; things like books and toys, a table to eat at and a bed to sleep in. By helping to alleviate the stresses of living on low-income and providing families with more opportunity and support to nurture their children in play and learning, Building Blocks aims to give all children the best start in life. Through this programme, Save the Children is able to provide:

      • Early Learning Packs: curated with early years experts, these include toys, books and playsets designed to support age appropriate play, encourage parent-child interaction and improve early communication and language skills
      • Essential household items such as washing machines, cots and bedroom furniture to help create a positive home learning environment that lowers parental stress and supports routines.
      • Tools and guidance: providing families with information and tips on the ‘what, how and why’ of child development so they are empowered and equipped to support their child’s early education
Between 2018-2020, GSK hopes to raise £300,000 from employee fundraising, which could give 566 disadvantaged families in the UK access to household essentials and early learning resources that will help their children thrive.

Thank you for your ongoing support for Save the Children and wish you a restful festive break.

      Best regards

      Nikki and Ambra

No not at all. I just remember times when I was that kid. Not for once do I blame my parents as they were in the same boat. Even now I can see my Mum she was small in frame coming in each morning after gathering potatoes. Her little hands blue and shivering then getting us ready for school. It sends shivers down my spine. And every little mite out there should wake up to some form of gift Christmas day. Maybe i am just a big softie. Thanks you for everything.
