What are the options for fixed side panniers on 94 Tiger (Steamer)because they are NLA from Triumph ? I guess they are like hens teeth for my bike ? What about the mounts and luggage from other Triumph models eg does the Trident kit fit an old Tiger ?...finally non Triumph..eg Givi or others ? If I am wasting my time just let me know and thanks in advance.

Also, was going to ask the same questions about huggers as I'm a sports bike rider really but think they might ruin the look of the rear end. I went off road last week and the swing arm was caked in grass/mud so would probably foul up a hugger.

If you can find the factory refs (Triumph World) you may find they are common items for other models. I needed bits for a Bonnie recently and found three other models had the same ref, also worked to my advantage as the 'other' model was cheaper!

Tried that...seems they were unique to TIGER 885 Carbs up to VIN: 71698 but happy if someone can prove me wrong ? I contacted Givi and they have nothing either.

Where I come from we're used to applying a "the bigger the problem, the bigger the hammer" approach. Some years ago I got a custom fabricator to adapt Givi brackets, made for a Suzuki, to fit a Triumph 955 RS or ST, I forget which.

Browse the ads for someone who custom-builds parts, get any bracket from any manufacturer - Givi/Kappa (same product), Shad, SW Motech, Krauser, you name it - hand your bike plus the bracket to the custom parts builder and get him to to marry the two.

We don't make anything back here in blighty any more but there is a full rack on ebay in the US. They want £750 which is almost 50% of what I paid for the bike. Thanks anyway

I can recommend the following bag. SW Motech Drybag 700. It has an capacity of 70 liters and is fully waterproof. I rode on my last two bikes about 15.000 km / 9320 miles with it without any problems. You may attach a second smaler bag on it too. It is a cool system which is attached/detached in a few minutes to/from your bike. You don`t need any extra luggage rack. You can fix the bag with the included retaining straps directly to/on your bike. "Speeding" is also no problem! ;-)

Hi Simon. Dreadfully late to this, I know, so my apologies.

Fundamentally, getting pretty much ANY part that was unique to the carb'd Tiger (aka 'Steamer') is more a matter of luck than skill or knowledge! Givi used to do a full kit - panniers and top box for the 'bike - I bought one in the late nineties (the Givi kit, I mean) when it became known that the kit was going to be discontinued. I'm fairly sure that the original, optional case kit for the Steamer was made by Givi with Triumph badges but that stuff was rare in the nineties and would be unobtainium rare now! Other than constant trawling of ebay, gumtree and the like, it's going to be a matter of a rare, chance find, IMHO.

I'd suggest that, realistically, your best bet is to try to find some suitable cases that would suit your tastes and the bike (Givi Trekkers, perhaps?) and have some brackets fabricated to suit. Alternatively, you could contact Craven - see, we DO still make stuff in this country ;) ! - and see if they can help with something that might be modifiable? https://www.craven-equipment.co.uk/

Similarly with a hugger - I strongly doubt that you'll get something specific to the model. I'd guess you could keep an eye on the breakers and see if you can pick up a '90's Speed Triple/Daytona hugger and try to modify it to fit? But, as you suggest, it probably would get clogged quickly in an off-road environment so would need to be adjusted to suit.

Sorry to bear news that I suspect you more than half expected. The carb'd Tiger was, to my recollection, never sold in huge numbers - it wasn't an off-roader, being too big and heavy; and it wasn't the greatest of roadsters, being ... you guessed it ... too big and heavy - but it IS a great bike and one to be cherished! I certainly wouldn't willingly part with mine.

Rear shock and sprag seem ok. Carbs were leaking brown gunk out of the float bowls (i thnk) and would sometimes spew fuel all over the alternator if the fuel tap was left on. Quite a lot has to come off the bike before you can even get to the carbs. Once out I found that all the bolts/screws holding them together were seized. I had to drill out every one. Internals weren't that dirty but I bought an ultrasonic cleaner which resulted in them looking pretty good inside and out. So they are back together now and I will try to refit this weekend. I hope they work because I know nothing about carbs :(
