Just finished watching the remembrance service on bbc1. Always the moment when the last post sounds... and releasing the poppy petals...

That's a nice tradition.
In France it'a bit different. The authorities make ceremonies in all cities and villages around "le monument aux morts", usually a statue with all the names of the fallen people. Every small village has one.

Talking about that yesterday with my English workmate, he funnily told me "you have a public holiday, we have only 2 minutes of silence"
