Hi guys , I am really pee'd off. Just found the problem missfire on my 53 plate thunderbird sport. It appears that no. 1 cyl coil has packed in and somehow melted my igniter (bloody thing was nearly on fire )..
Just wondering if any of you have heard of that happening and where I can get some cheap 2nd hand parts as I have just priced at triumph world and had a MAJOR HEART ATTACK . I think my lotto numbers better come up this weekend.
So any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.:upyeah:

I have a couple of old 'AA' batteries and a piece of wire you can have for £25. Hope this helps!

On a serious note thou guys , thanks for your comments but I was speaking to a great guy called Sandy who runs a place called Triumphant motorcyles in south wales. He was very helpfull and explained that after 2001 Triumph changed the ignition system on the bike and basically put crap igniters on which are just burning out and thats why you can't get second hand ones easily and are not worth putting on, so he advised converting the old igniters to suit the newer model and he has not had any problems since. £180 + vat for igniter c/w plug and wireing diagram to convert and £20 + vat for coils. I will be ordering them tomorrow and will keep you updated on the progress. :upyeah:

I've dealt with him too - top bloke! Glad you're sorted. Saved you about £500 into the bargain!
