T100 Drag Pipes???

    Hey Guys,

    I have a 2014 T100 and I am so in love with the drag pipes that British customs make. However, they are about $800 our of my budget.

    Just wondering if anyone has an alternative solution with a slip-on, cheaper product or even just cutting down stock pipes and removing the muffler.

    Welcome to the family. Looks like all you need do is remove your cans and you achieve the same. If you want a baffle just purchase one and fit by drilling a small hole in the down pipe and rivet it there. Or try Burton Bike Bits.

    Hey Joe, thanks so much for getting back to me! I am going to have to put you on the spot here since you have replied. If I was to just remove the cans there would be a little 'flare' taking away from the aesthetic of drag pipe (see pic). Would you suggest I just cut that off?

    Finally, is it just a myth that running straights without cans are bad for the engine? I cannot see how it would make a difference on EFI models.

    Any advice would be hugely appreciated, mate!

    If I'm honest, I'm not too fussed on the noise, I keep the bike in the countryside away from everyone. Just hoping it will pass MOT

    The ones in the picture have silencing all the way along, suspect that is why they are so expensive. No silencing at all will surely not pass an MOT, I mean there is overlooking something, but since the tester will hear you set off from home they will have a hard time saying they didn't notice!

    You really want to ride without any silencing? It would do my head in.

    It isn't the noise I am after it is the aesthetic I really like. This is why I am asking for an alternative way that I can make it sound bearable and look great

    Technically removing the cans would change (reduce) exhaust back-pressure and flow characteristics of the exhaust gasses. Whether that has any affect on your AFR is up for debate, but I assume the ECM would make fueling adjustments to some degree to compensate.

    So I’ve just messaged a few local exhaust makers to see if they can make something similar as im a fan of the pipes tbh. I’m a bit concerned about whether or not it would pass an MOT to be honest. If I can get someone to make me some for half the price I’d be tempted and then just swap them out for an MOT if it fails.
    I’ve been on YouTube and can’t see any British videos with them fitted so I’d be interested to see.

    So I’ve message BC and they said although they’ve sold a few of these pipes to folk in the U.K. they’ve been told they haven’t passed the MOT with the pipes fitted, no surprise really, which means either being a mate with the guy who does your MOT or swapping them out. I’ve been quoted 500 quid for a guy to make these in stainless steel or 650 in titanium. If anyone’s interested drop me a message and I’ll
    Pass on there details. I’ve messaged and rang a few and at the minute only one bloke has got to me to say he would do it.

    You could get some short slip on pipes Farley cheap from eBay, I have seen a picture of them on a Bonnie and look really good.

    To be honest I’ve been pondering how it will get through its MOT in current form(it deffo won’t pass ) I will take a look, thanks chap

    Yes any cans you can get just stick them on for MOT and remove again. Simple as.

    The old trick for running drag pipes while still maintaining some backpressure was to install VW Beetle tail pipes in the end as they had some internal baffling,they're probably not so easy to find now but there are a few classic bike companies that sell baffles on their own so you could make something up. Personally I would go for some kind of custom map for the fuelling as I have melted pistons in the past and I think that could be an expensive repair on a Bonnie.

    Already sent an email to TTP, got a stage 2 kit on order and a suitable map recommended. I’ll take a look reference baffles. Thanks for the advice chap

    My T100 had Dunstall silencers when I first had it. They just about got through MoT with advisories at the dealer who sold me it, wouldn’t pass anywhere else.

    After a while I just got fed up with the noise and refitted the stock silencers, minus the AIS pipework and had the bike remapped with an aftermarket map.

    Bike runs much better that way.
