Perfect time to set out with a cold one and a rod and reel hoping the fish don't bother you.

    Stars shine cold and bright
    The indolent morning lingers slight
Stone cold wall of darkness wanes.
    Hidden pockets of night remains.

    Driving in, black road, taciturn.
Feel the wind, now does it burn.
Blinded by trucks that do not dim.
Grinding forward, the cold seeps in.

    Triple firing jumps ahead.
A black collision I truly dread.
    Feeble tunnel of narrow path
The other drivers must think I’m daft.

The sky a mixture of deep blue and gray
Darkness stubbornly holding back the day.
    Factory rises, place of pain.
Work I must, to collect my gain.

Days are numbered before the snow
Into the car then I must go.
Bikes will rest their feet up high
Covered in canvas until spring is nigh

I agree with Dartplayer, brown mouse. The bike's looking good and I enjoyed the photos. And I just noticed the brown mouse on the seat in your first photo. :):joy:

Nice, Hobnail! I enjoy reading your poetry. Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

But I do have to say that the last part of your poem (what is that called in poetry language?) about numbered days is a huge part of why I'm glad I live in Arizona as a motorcyclist and not my home state of Minnesota. No winterizing the bikes!:joy:

Beautiful, @Dartplayer! :sun: And only 113 miles from your house, right? You are lucky to have such a beautiful body of WATER so nearby! :grinning: Our nearest body of water is the currently stagnant fountain (broken pump) in our backyard. :(

Just ran the Memsahib into work in Durham this morning... only about 25 mile round trip... sheeesh it's cold out there even with the heated grips on....

frost on the road too.....had a white Audi hassling me round the twisties up from Brancepeth.... was just taking them gently because of the frost (and a brand new front tyre) .... wherever you go there's an arsehole in a car

Very accurate. I love the water and aeroplanes so I am lucky enough to be able to stay on each coast next to an air port.
Water is 300m from home and away home. Auckland city has a harbour to the north and coast line East and West only a few miles apart at there nearest points:heart_eyes:

the sum total of doing anything on the Triumph today has been going into the yard and making sure the cover is on properly.... pouring down up here, gravel is being washed onto the roads from the fields and not motorbike weather at all...

. take care anyone out on their bikes today

@brown mouse pillion seat looks great, can I ask if you had a complete base plate made ? Did you use steel or add on to the plastic original base?

Still not sure about my back end noises...
@Dartplayer I noticed you had your rear up on the paddock stand to do back wheel off type work (brembo rear brake)(mono shock), how was that? In my Haines manual it says to use a paddock stand UNLESS Bobber or Speedmaster in which case you have to wood chock up to about 170mm.
I came back from a 40 mile ride and noticed a new high pitch squeal as I walked the bike in.only happened under weight. Once up on paddock stand just the other creaky noise.

    And on the paddock stand..

Chain tension seems fine, no rubbing of tyre,
Rear wheel alignment out by only 0.8mm ( in terms of left side to right side of rear chain adjuster marks& nuts ).
Not sure whether to fiddle about and grease up the shaft ect, only done 2800 miles so cant be bearings?
Or take it to Triumph ......?
