Thruxton Strange Rider Mode Behaviour

    Hmmm... I understand how to change mode whether the bike is on of off, stationary or moving. However, each time I (successfully) put it onto Sport, the next time I turn it on it's back in Road.

    This is what the manual says:

    Note
    The last riding mode selected before the ignition is switched OFF will be the same riding mode active when the ignition is switched ON again.


    Can anyone explain why it might be happening, and/or whether it's likely to be an easy fix when it goes on for service next week?

    If sport turns off traction/abs etc, it'll revert back to the mode with them set to "on" as a safety measure so it'll not take the next rider "by surprise" as to get it back to sport, it's an option that the rider has to make after starting it.
    Safety precaution (meant to be) but it's the same for my rs.
    Nothing to be worried about.

    Thanks, but apparently the only change arising from the different modes is in the throttle behaviour; TC and ABS are unaffected. The manual is also quite specific in that the mode last used is the mode that should be set on start up.

    Puzzling.

    Ah, okay - thanks very much. Perhaps the Thruxton section of the manual needs to be amended then.

    It's a really annoying safety feature which in my case was a deal breaker I don't like or need to be told what to do

    Deal breaker, thats a laugh. Reverting back to Road after shutting off is what it's designed to do. Big deal. I can name hundreds of more annoying daily things.

    Your choice mate if I set something electronic that I paid more than 10 grand for to a setting I expect it to stay there its my choice and don't need some health and safety bullshit to do otherwise

    The dealer may not do it coz its a safety feature. You may have to ask someone who has mapped their ECU. ECU coding changes are common among the car crews for indicators speeds, door locking etc....

    The rider mode on the Street Scrambler doesn't work in the same way that the manual suggests it works either.

    If you follow the manual, it's not possible to select off-road mode
