I'm never quite sure where I should post stuff like this.

Just received a recall notice for my 2019 Street Scrambler:

"Your motorcycle could have misrouted harness wiring that may become damaged by the lower lug on main frame headstock when the handlebars are rotated, resulting in an engine stall, which increases the risk of a crash."

    Was yours like mine?
Came today (Though I sold the bike 10 months ago) and dated 25-08-2020.

I got one of these for my new Street Twin a couple of weeks ago. Still waiting for my dealer to receive the mod kit. Have had a look, though, and I can't really see what all the fuss is about. I'll just keep an eye on it while I wait for the fix. It's not going to turn into a sudden catastrophic failure from what I can see.

Got mine today also. My friend from Germany has his ages ago. The Germans thrive on efficiency. Glad Fat 999 cant see what the fuss is about, as I am planning to use mine tomorrow.

I'm sure I had one of those when I had my street twin. I sold it a few years ago?

Had my letter. Called the dealer and booked in. Not a big issue, a re route of the wires to give more play on full fork turn.

Same here. Got the notice a week ago. Waiting for the dealer to get the parts.

Are you sure they need parts? I thought it was a re-routing of the harness to give a bit more play when you turn full lock to one side with the forks ?

I got an email today saying my 19 plate Street Scrambler is subject to the recall for the wiring at the headstock area. This is the second wiring issue thats required a recall and my dealer says it’s because the harness is just too short. This recall is where the harness is rubbing on a different point and they are fitting a plastic shim to protect it whereas the first required it being re routed a bit higher up. Think it’s a bit poor where designers can’t get something as basic as the correct length for a wiring loom on a motorbike right first time... let alone second time ... but at least it’s booked in next Weds so fingers crossed will be sorted.

That's what I thought. But the service manager said there is a cover for the sharp edges plate.

As suspected, they replace part no. 27 in that diagram.

The new part bolts to the lug above the VIN plate and protects the wiring harness by covering the lug below the VIN plate.

Thanks guys. I think I have a better understanding of the recall. My dealer was a little vague.

This is the plastic bit fitted for the recall thats just been done on my bike ... can’t really see what it’s shielding as the wiring seems a way away from it ... the brackets seen attached to the forks in pic are for a windscreen DF48D489-FFFB-40CD-ADC0-7450170E218C.jpeg
