Hi all, has anyone bought and tried a Roadlok immobiliser? The one that clamps permanently to your front brake calliper? If so how did you find it and which model did you go for? I’m looking for one for my RS and maybe my Tiger 800. Thoughts or reviews would be appreciated.

Looks good but very expensive for a disc lock, and you would still need a reminder cable, or at least I would!

I have a disc lock with a reminder cable permanently attached and it lives under the seat so takes seconds to put on, which IMHO is a better option.

Thanks all for the feedback. Having done some digging of my own if you cut the brake cable then the lock remains in place as the pin goes through the disc itself so resorts to being a disc lock and would then catch to stop the wheel turning. It’s also Thatcham approved so unlike a standard disc lock you get a discount albeit a small one from an insurance provider. Definitely a lot of money though but seen them for £130. More consideration needed for sure.

I would do as suggested a standard or even better alarmed Disc lock, No singing and dancing fancy priced disc lock will stop some barstewards lifting it into a transit van (which seems the thief's prefered method )

Just thought I should add my helpful tip here. I use a short (1inch) length of car wiper hose and shove it on my disc lock key. When I use the disc lock I have to move the hose and transfer it to my ignition key. When I come back to the bike I can't use the ignition key with the hose on and it reminds me to take the lock off. It's cheap and it works for me.

a friend of mine had one on his s1000r, never seen one before, looked like a clever bit of kit.
I doubt i would bother though, i very rarely bother with disc locks, seems pointless when most likely to be chucked into a van anyway.

Love that idea Skippa - I will adopt it myself as the yellow curly thing I use at the moment looks daft and is a PITA❗️

There has been a lot of discussion about these on the BMW R nine t forum.
They are expensive but the advantage is that it is permanently fixed to the bike so you only have to carry the key with you. Same problem as any disc lock in that it won't prevent your bike being lifted into the back of a van.
Once it's locked in place through the disc, then there is no movement of the bike as with a conventional disc lock so there is less potential for starting to ride off and damaging the caliper - so no reminder cable needed.
Only works with radial calipers though and still too expensive in my opinion.

it makes the difference between fully coverage or no coverage at all, so... yes, it saves me the money on a new bike !

DONE! Appeared to be a 10 min job... works a charm, me one happy puppy.
Did attach an extra reminder cable, might remove it after a while.. time will tell.

That looks good! I ordered mine from the States so still winging it's way on the asthmatic pigeon they must have strapped it to. Might get it in time for Christmas or the 2nd lockdown we are heading for...

might seem a bit of a random question, but how heavy is it?
I quite like the idea of the lock but not of the additional unsprung weight, especially if its anything like my current disk lock.

I didn’t weigh it, but on the website it states that the weight is about 300 gram when is use. The pin is about 70 gram, so while riding its quite a bit lighter compared to my “old” disk lock
