As the Trophy SE has now been with us for over twelve months I am very interested in the thoughts & opinions of anyone who has owned a Trophy SE for a few months & done a few thousand miles. I have to be honest & say I was all for ordering the all new 2014 BMW R1200RT SE until I had a test ride on the Trophy SE! I was very impressed with the ride, handling & comfort for such a big bike! At present I am without a bike as I have just sold my Honda Pan but now wanting to order the Trophy SE so your thoughts & opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Also what are you thoughts & opinions on a custom 8 Ball Paint job on a Trophy SE? The reason I ask is I have seen a brand new Trophy SE painted in 8 Ball Candy Red colour & it looks stunning! Would a custom paint job affect the bike value when it is time to part with it as it is not a factory colour?

I look forward to your thoughts & opinions & many thanks.

Go for it, love the Trophy. Don't care about the colour but I do like the silver because it does not show the dirt. The bike drives great and I can ride it all day long and feel pretty darn good at the day end for a 58 year old man.

    Hi Rob

I had the Explorer prior to the SE and purchased after borrowing it whilst the TEx was in for 20k service.

Loved it, the comfort value is 2nd to none. I could only last 100 miles on TEx but now 200+. The tank range is fantastic, currently tripping at 52.6mpg.

Each to their own but cant recommend the TTSE high enough

Mine was an ex display/courtesy bike and had 4k miles on the clock back in Sept when i got it, now just had the 10k service. One issue i have had and that was the Traction Control kept on cutting in but Staffs Triumph plugged in and uploaded the newset update and all back to normal.

Hi all I'm new to the Forum And new to the triumph brand , I've taken out a trophy twice now on test ride and I love it!, , I'm coming from an old goldwing and I love the trophy! Only one gripe on the bike I tested it had a touring screen! And any time I wet over 60 mph the aerial bangs against the touring screen ? Any ideas how to stop it ?. ( with out bending the aerial ? )

I will never part with my 2002 1200 Trophy, I have tested the SE and also a bike i was going to get the Kawasaki GTR 1400 however to me they are like someone has squeezed all the toothpaste to one end of the tube, too fat up front and with too many gadgets and distractions, don't get me wrong if you like that stuff good on ya and I could upgrade if I wanted however no I'll stick to what works and I do a shit lot of miles. Also the aerial thing? Why when it could be covert like cars. Peace

    Good review Ruzvol.

I've had my Trophy SE now for a couple of years (sadly it still only has 5000kms on the clock). I bought it new after trading in a rather unreliable BMW R1200R. I've had all the recalls done and it's a truly ride all day machine. Mine has the low seat to enable me to get my feet on the floor and it certainly helps. Mileage range is awesome having good fuel economy and a big tank. It has superb storage space in the panniers and top box and for its size handles like a dream, brakes are excellent too.
Now to the negatives, as Ruzvol mentioned the Hazard warning light switch is really badly placed and it takes a really hard press to operate it. As someone else mentioned above the aerial kept banging against the screen but this was easily fixed by adjusting it so it's more vertical.
One thing that I really don't like about the bike (and it's not the bikes fault) is the weight. Good grief it's so heavy to move about and I'm so scared of dropping it. The equivalent BMW R1200RT is about 60kgs lighter. So far I'm just about managing it but I can foresee a time when it's too much for me and I'll have to either give up biking or find something much lighter. Whilst I was still employed my bike of choice for home-office-home commuting was my Burgman as its so practical.
But the Trophy is such a superb bike and I hope to be able to continue riding it for a while yet

    Nikki

When I got my Trophy last year I tested it against the R1200RT. You can read the comparison on my blog http://greatukbiketrip.blogspot.co.uk/2015_03_01_archive.html .
After a year I have encountered no significant problems with the Trophy. It does have a lot of bells and whistles, and that means reading the manual rather more than some may be used to!!
