Hello Group, I'm new to this forum, but not to bikes in general. At 68, I've been riding and wrenching since I was 12. So, whats that.....56 years of this stuff? Hey..... still lovin' it! Me and the girlfriend spent half the day on my '19 Harley Street Glide Special today, but yesterday was where I really had my motorcycle fun! I added set of true duals to my '07 Triumph 'Scrambler' that I picked up off a local gent. Unfortunately, I don't know too much about them other than they're a 'one-on-each-side' type with some nice little megaphone mufflers, all stainless, very light, and they sound awesome. HOWEVER, as somewhat of a veteran of tuning these carbureted twin-cylinder motorcycles, I know I'm going to have to do some work on this bike now to make sure it's right. I own a small fleet of old Yamaha XS650s, and I've got endless hours of tuning those bikes, not to mention the HDs. I still own an '01 Fatboy (carbureted), and a carbureted '04 Sportster. So, yea....... I guess it's fair to say that I'm a pretty dedicated 'biker'. Anyway, I'm here to get some advice on what people do on these bikes when tuning them, particularly with this kind of exhaust system. So, from this post I'm heading over to the 'Tech' forum and making my introductory post there. Let me say that I REALLY appreciate the help and consideration that the forum environment offers! Were it not for places like this, my other hobbies in electronics, audio, guitars, and even some of my 'boating and fishing' interests would never be achieved! So, I thank you all in advance, and hope to make some new friends! Many thanks! Tom D.
Welcome to the madhouse you should fit right in. To keep the inmates happy we will need photos of your bike. Tucker
Wharfcreek. Welcome to the family. Do hit the upload a file button bottom right corner and show the inmates your steeds. Regards & Ride Safe Joe.
Wow! You guys are GREAT!! Can't believe so many responses here so quickly. As to the bike, I do have an old pic of it here, which is with the exhaust system that was on it when I purchased it. So, I'll post that now and today I'll take a couple 'updated' pics and post those later. Many thanks for all the warm 'welcomes'. My only regret is that none of you are close enough to simply go meet up with and go for a ride. Perhaps the saddest part of getting on up in years is that a good many of the people you 'used' to ride with are no longer spinning two wheels.......and conversely, a good many of those that you 'currently' ride with are still bound to work-day routine that limits their availability. Simply put, it's getting harder to find guys to go riding with on any given day (like today!!) Anyway....again, thanks for the hospitality......
Hi'ya Tom. Well I am a bit far away to meet up for a ride. I guess half way would be about Kansas. I am an old retiree as well. I ride when I feel like it. The bikes are not my whole life. Just something I do from time to time. Spent all my working life working on machinery. I am trying to branch out a bit now that I am retired. Welcome. ...J.D.
