... here today www.punchhotel.co.uk for Sunday lunch. SWMBO had cottage pie whilst I had the carvery (and syrup sponge and custard to follow). Most excellent and virtually all home made. Some good things to be had in Hull!! Now there's a surprise for some of you!
We ended up here. https://www.thetroutoxford.co.uk/content/pcdg/south-east/thetroutoxford/gallery The kids treated SWMBO and I managed to get a place as well. It was Inspector Morse's favorite pub.
That pic looks just like my best mate Chubby. Only diff is he dont have a boat, unless you call a GPZ1100 a boat, and i guess some of us do hey is that Trout in Oxford good?? Have to say I am picky tho as I cook myself and most if not all carvery places leave me cold as the food is always luke warm and both of us like our food hot If it is really good, my mrs loved Morse and it would be bonus points if i took her there, lol. Unfortunately not on the bike, she doesnt do bikes but is the rare species of female that encourages me to go biking, even tho she is sh*t scared every time I go out on it.
It's not bad, can't be that bad as it's usually rammed. It's a bit pricey but they do bar snacks and it's a nice spot by the river, hotter the weather the busier it will be. If your into Morse then get the park and ride(don't try to drive into Oxford) and have a walk round the colleges.
I have one of those - (rare female encouraging biking) - it was she who encouraged me to get one and take my test. Went pillion on the Bonnie a few times for short runs but won't go near the Trident! Always buying me bike related gear for birthday and Christmas (paddock stand and heated jacket last time).
The Trout isn't bad but I prefer The Head of the River for a riverside pub. This Morse Trail may be of interest if you are planning a trip. http://www.locationoxfordshire.co.uk/docs/Trails-MorseCity.pdf We've done a couple - great day out. Best pub in Oxford is The Turf - if you can find it!
