I joined this forum a few years ago when I decided that my second bike would be a Tiger. I tend to research something a little bit before committing and I needed to decide whether the 800 or the 1200 was what I wanted. Then, triumph decided to throw a wrench with the 900.

I decided on the 800 and found a 2018 about 5 hours from home. I drove it from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Charlotte, North Carolina last weekend, and it took waaaaaay more than 5 hours to get home; two days actually. My path may not have been the most direct. :)

So, here I am, officially a Triumph rider.:party:

P.S. My first bike is a Kawasaki Versys. No, I'm not selling her, she's still my first love.

Congrats! How do you feel it compares to the Versys? I'm considering a couple of things for longer trips in addition to my Bonnie and the Versys is on that list.

I am a total fangirl for my Versys. I spent 7 years researching that one before I bought it. Once Gen 3 came out, I was sold.

I am dismissing the obvious creature comforts that you get with a $16k bike versus a $8k bike, and going to talk about what I love about it.

For reference, I live pretty close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Smoky Mountains and I do most of my riding there, and I am 6' tall. Both relevant to my experience.

The Versys is comfortable for long stretches and we'll balanced even fully loaded with both side bags and the top case. She has a high center of gravity and is super flickable, even at about 500 pounds. The problem I can't overcome is needing to shift more than everyone else twisties in the mountains.

For small altitude changes, rolling hills, or straightaways, I have nothing to complain about.

    (Edit: prematurely posted by accident)
(Edit 2: the struggle is real)

Can't say welcome to the family as you have been here for ever. Well I suppose I can say welcome as we have not spoken before or should I say nice to meet you. Great bikes and fantastic pictures.
    Regards & Ride Safe

Welcome from Iowa, land of tenderloin sandwiches and farmers to eat them. Lots of good riding out that way around Charlotte . I used to live in WV and the roads were unreal. Ride to work, work to ride.
