Thruxton Thruxton R Yoke Phone Mount

    Hi. I am trying to figure out how to attach a RAM mount to my center yoke (only location that makes sense to me). The nut is not hollow and no part of me wants to drill it. Elsewhere in this forum (and others) people suggested replacing it with either the dytona nut (part # t2041100) or Striple (t2049880).Both of these seem to be m25. HOWEVER, the original nut (t2040304) seems to be m30.
    Did I misread something or is my info incorrect?

    I used one of these on my speed twin. Just remove one of the existing bolts and replace with a slighter longer one that comes with the kit

    I was really hoping to put the phone mount in the center, on the yoke. I find the handlebar location inconvenient (for me).

    Yeah, I’m in the same boat, really want it in the center.
    I removed the center nut to look at it and then just reinstalled to the same position.
    I think I’m gonna drill it, unless somebody knows of a preexisting drilled nut.
    I want to put a QuadLock stem mount in it.

    Do you remember the size do the socket / wrench? (I'd have to go borrow one and it would be helpful to know what I am asking :) )

    If you end up drilling yours, can you please post how it went?

    Hi, I spent a bit more time on this tonight.... first, I didn’t have a large enough wrench either and so I just used a large adjustable/crescent wrench.

    But, while shopping for some shorty levers (ordered short Evotechs), I came across this stem nut with hole, which I ordered. Should make it pretty easy. I plan to put the quadlock stem mount in it. I already have a quadlock case which I use for everyday. It is actually very nice and has lasted longer than any other cases I have used! I have various quadlock mount styles on my other bikes and have found them to be great.

    The stem nut I received from A&J Cycles is Triumph part #T2041100. I used a large adjustable wrench, which left some scuffs on the top clamp.... I polished them out but note to self, get some large sockets for the tool box!!!
    I think my Quadlock stem mount is supposed to show up tomorrow. I will post up some pics when I have it all done.

    I got the quadlock stem mount installed. It is super solid, seems great. I have a black tab coming for it, red and white are also available.

    I have an iPhone 8+ so pretty much any phone works with this mount location. I like their cases a lot. Now I just have to run the charge cord under the tank I suppose.

    I actually put some deep scars right close to the nut, so I had to knock of the edges a bit.

    I used a fine ignition file for the raised edge of the mark, then polished it with some 1000 grit. This of course dulled it up too much so I was committed to doing a proper job on the whole yoke now. I used 2000, and then 3000, and finished with automotive scratch/swirl remover liquid.

    For most scuffs, just 3000 grit and the scratch remover wax would work. I had the supplies on hand from when I prepped a used car for sale. Most automotive supply stores with an auto body section have everything you need.

    Thank you for a such a wonderfully detailed response. I am clueless about bodywork, so this gives me an excellent starting point
    The previous own scratches up the triple tree pretty good (probably too many keys on the keychain) and I might have made a mess putting the nut on. Adjustable wrenches aren't great and apparently my local hardware stores don't carry a big enough socket :/

    I ran a USB/apple cord from the under seat factory USB plug up to my bars.
    I used a 4 foot (1.2m) cord which worked out perfectly.

    I took the tank off to do a proper job. It actually came off quite easily. Steps were as follows:
    -Remove the 10mm nut/ 8mm bolt at rear of tank.
    -Slide tank back and up a bit, place towels under front and back of tank to keep it raised.
    -Disconnect tank vent line under the left side panel.
    -Push tabs and disconnect 2 wire plugs under right side of tank.
    -Disconnect fuel line at right side of tank:
    slide lock outward, push in tab and pull up and off.
    (Note that a small amount of fuel will temporarily drip out of the fuel line. Should have a cool engine!)
    -Remove tank.

    Once again, thank you for an excellent set of instructions. I was planning to remove my tank for something completely unrelated. Now I know exactly how to do it!
