Was considering putting standard cans back on the triple, possibly selling the twin serket scorpions but is it a bad time to sell with the current going’s in.

I think it's a good time to sell. Lots of people getting back out on the road. Some looking for a bike to commute on. I just sold a bike. Had the most calls about it I've ever had when selling a bike. It was gone in less than a week.

Surprisingly I believe a good time to sell I think. Been in to Triumph and BMW dealers since the easing and bike sales are extremely bouyant.
Vast majority of the bikes I had my eye on in the hope of a deal during lockdown have been sold. I am now waiting on the hope of a VAT cut (as per 2008 crisis) announcement.

Im now of the opinion that with the majority of bikers being of the (ahem) slightly older generation, the rule of "life is too short" has become the current state of mind.

I place a classified ad for an MT-10 on eBay last week, at a price a little above the majority of others for sale.

I figured I'd drop after a week or two if necessary...but it sold at the asking price in less than 45 minutes. As far as I can tell, there are bikers out there that are chomping at the bit to make up for lost time.

Lot of new S3 owners joined the Speed Triple Facebook page the last few weeks, so they are selling!

Sold my KTM on ebay within 40 minutes 2 weeks ago. I had three offers in that time. The listing wasn't up for an hour. People are buying...

I PX'd my Aprilia & Speed R for an RS. The dealer said they can hardly cope with demand. They have two vans on the road full time picking up & dropping off bikes. The bloke I was dealing with said he was working into the evening each day to keep up with email traffic on deals & enquiries.

agree with all the above. i have had a garage clear out of 3 bikes i had planned to sell over the next few years. All classic honda and sold all on ebay within 2 days of advert going live with loads of later calls wishing they had been quicker. All said they had the money earning nothing in the building society and with time on their hands over the last 3 months, decided it was a good time to get the bike they had always wanted. I also priced correctly and in each case refused to drop the price. I now have money burning a hole in my pocket and looking for a nice early hinckly triumph to add to my 1200 xe and early speed triple.

I took an offer £300 below my asking price for my 848 from the first person to see it. Later wished I hadn't as had several calls and emails over the next few days. Especially after reading your experiences .

I've sold a bike last week and the sale was quick and at the target price. I don't know if we can generalize.
Dealers are breaking the prices on new bikes to empty stocks, so if you're selling a recent low mileage bike, this may not help.

Yep, I agree, SleepyOwl. One of my riding buddies sent me a photo just yesterday of the showroom floor at our local Harley dealership. There were only about a dozen new bikes on the floor compared to the usual forty or so. Word is that the 2021 models won't even be released until Feb. 2021. So it will probably be a GREAT time to sell anything used. Another riding buddy of ours just sold his KTM ADV bike and his Harley touring bike for top dollar in less than a week (Cycle Trader I think). When I traded my two Harleys for a 2020 model in early May, both of those bikes sold within three days. Makes me glad now that I chose to do that trade deal when I did! I'm hoping that there's not a shortage of the parts that I ordered to do a little customization and engine work.

Wow, less than 45 minutes?! Amazing, MrTriple. :) Close to a land-speed sales record. Doesn't even give one time for a bit of seller's remorse. ;)

Just backtracked a bit in this thread and saw the post by James01--40 minutes! Beats out Mr Triple's 45 minute sale by a nose. ;)

I must admit I thought it could go either way Sandi but did honestly think that times would be hard and deals could be done. Oh well, will try my best to get a deal on a second bike but may be a tough call.
Mate of mine is test riding the 900 GT pro at the end of this week and dealer is telling him it may be November when he gets it!

OK, so I did a bit of rounding. I was hoping to beat the 40 minutes, so I checked the listing start time against the time that I received the buyer's message...and it was actually 53 minutes...so a slightly longer Pinocchio nose :yum
