¡Hola! I am a little surprised myself, I never expected to ever own a Triumph. But now the sun is shining and the lockdown is ending, I found myself paying a deposit on a 2009 Thruxton 900. It's joining a hard-working commuter/touring BMW G310R as a weekend fun machine This bike is gorgeous, it looks like it's from the 60s even down to the faux carburetor. AND there is a stripe going down the gas-tank. I'm super excited! She has 12000 on the clock, so should be good for another 12k? Picking her up on Friday. -Rachel
Hi Rachel, Welcome to the forum. I bet you're excited to pick up the Thruxton today. Did you manage to sleep last night?
The bike was a wise choice, for sure. I couldn't upload any pictures to the gallery, so I'll just upload them here instead. I did briefly consider a pair of wider handlebars and fitting a FIAMM Freeway blaster horn, like I have on the bimmer. I'm getting used to the handlebars now though, and changing the horn to something obnoxiously loud seems to take away from the Englishness of it, and we don't want that now. There are already too many Americans in California as it is Honestly not sure if there is anything I really need to change on it at the moment.
Hi, Rachel! Congrats on your Thruxton and welcome to a terrific forum and the wonderful world of Triumphs! I think you'll find this to be a great community. I'm glad you've joined us and also glad to welcome another woman on board. My first Triumph was a 2012 Thruxton 900 very much like yours. I loved it and have had a Triumph in my garage ever since. I'm posting a few photos so you can see the mods I did to my bike. If anything strikes your fancy let me know and I'll try to remember just what it is. I traded this bike for a 2016 Thruxton R when they changed the model fairly significantly. Loved both of them!
