    Hi all,

i m also new on forum; I m from Bucharest -Romania; I register here because we are not so many with Triumphs in the country. I have a 2016 Speed Triple R, ... proud to say that :)), awesome bike. I have only 7xxx km with it and from last year,-after winter(5 month sleep), this year the same thing, it s start leaking on the corner of the engine, near pipe exhaust - see the picture-. Is not a semnificant quantity of oil and after aprox 100km or some short trips in the town, it’s stop.

Should I change the gasket? Anyone had the some issue?

    i m posting a picture.

thank you and please excuse me for my english(hope there are not so many mistakes)

    all the best!
    M

Hello and welcome. Bike looks great! Any chance of a close up photo of the leak?

    Welcome to the forum.

There is a good chance that a new gasket will help but for anyone to offer any useful advice, a close-up would help.

    All the best

    Hi and welcome in :)

At a guess, from the general area indicated in your picture, its possibly just a small leak from the rocker cover gasket

I had a similar thing the oil was creeping around from the cam cover seal onto that area . Unlikely to be your head gasket as the oil where you highlight should not be under high pressure ?? Look at your cam cover first ...

Welcome to the family lovely bike. Yes clean it spotless. Give it a little spin and check that cam cover as it is likely or should I say hopefully. If it turns out to be a head gasket then it needs urgent attention before it warps the head.
    Regards

Due to what looks like an exhaust downpipe behind your finger in the first photo, surely that has to be showing the head gasket and not the rocker cover. I'd usually expect to see coolant and not oil to weep from there.

Do you know if the head gasket has been changed already? Just wondering if the head bolts might not have been torqued down properly?

If it is oil dripping from the rocker cover gasket, it'll not be so expensive so I kind of hope it's that.

    Hi guys,

i will clean it again tomorrow and take it for a ride; but till now, like last year, also this year it was the same thing: leaks a few oil at the start of the season and stops. I m the second owner, but I took it at 4000km, in waranty period, everything is original, never had a work to do.
The oil is leaking only in that point. I will make some pictures and post them. Last year when I was in service to change the oil and filter, they said to me that is often the problem with the gasket of cylinder head , but to come when it leaks much more.

    thank you!
    M.

It's difficult for you to know what to do. I had exactly the same problem on an old Tiger 885. During warm summer months it didn't leak a drop, come autumn or anywhere below about 5 degrees I'd find pools of coolant on the floor.

My bike was old so I could accept it but yours is only 4! If it was mine and was going to keep it for a few years, I'd consider getting the head gasket replaced this coming winter, just to be on the safe side.

Does the casting on that block look a bit odd/damaged to anyone else?

That casting dies look odd but it also looks like the oil might have run all the way along that gasket from somewhere else.
