I bought a new Scrambler 1200 XC in May. I know I should love it but unfortunately I don’t.
The problems started immediately but that was due to lack of attention to detail during the build. Then, at about 2500 miles, 2000miles after it’s first service, the main fuel pipe disconnected, dumping fuel under my rear wheel, which could have caused a serious accident. I was lucky to keep the bike upright.
However, the main issue I have is the performance at low revs. I’ve been told that it’s down to the mapping and that these engines are ‘a bit highly strung, try riding with it in ‘Rain’ mode when doing a lot of slow riding.’
The engine feels erratic and jerky at low RPM. When at low revs and low throttle situations, it feels as if there is a "bump" in throttle response: From zero to minimal throttle the engine accelerates ok but then then it feels as though it loses power at the same throttle position. It’s at its worst at about 2500 RPM. It's not a big problem, but it feels weird and perhaps I just need to get used to the way it rides.
Anyone else suffering from the same issues?

Excuse the title, I fat-finger posted it. The title should read: ‘Scrambler 1200 XC low rev engine problems

have an XC. same jerky throttle. not a deal breaker but it seems its a common problem out there. I saw a video where the Missenden Flyer installed a throttle spacer that fixed his issue. might be worth a look.

I just think it's a shame you have to do anything to fix a brand new bike!

I agree but I’ve got a 1200 Xe and I’ve no problems with a jerky throttle, I ride mainly in road mode and it rides lovely but if I try to ride steady through villages etc in sport mode then it’s jerky but sports mode isn’t for general riding it’s for open road blasts.
