I just noted a film of oil on my rear fender and license plate on my 2011 Speedmaster. Anyone ever experience this?

    Hi mate and welcome
Only time I seen this on my Speedmaster was when I over oiled the chain

    Welcome from sunny California.

If it is oil fling off from the chain, I suggest this. I use it w/ great success. Little if any fling off.

Welcome to the family. Do hit the upload a file button bottom right corner and show of the steed. As for your oil situation. How new is the bike as they are covered in an wax mist when in the factory some dealers don't clean them of correctly. Or again it could be over lubing the chain or if you have a scot oiler it could be set to fast.
    Regards & Ride Safe
    Joe.

I find gear oil actually less messy and cleaner overall over a course of rides. The trick is <less over more> worked into and around the links, then a little sit time. Next day ready to go with minimal splash.

Despite the fact that I run a bike with chain drive, I actually hate this. Each time I lube the chain I wonder why on earth I'm still having to do this dirty and archaic task in the 21st century.
I know all the arguments for and against...I'm just saying........

This particular ' pussy' still rides 18k miles every year, aged now 67.
Last year this ' pussy' totalled almost 30 k miles.
That's a lot of chain lubing wouldn't you agree?
