I missed the Middleton distillery tour because of the air valve issue which required a complete dismemberment of Tallulah in a hotel carpark. I did get to Bushmills. Unsure what I drank :- pot still etc . I just had a lot of it. I apologise for the 'e' error- juvenile mistake. WhiskEy is quite limited in England so I am faithfully building my stocks by mail order. Had I known I would have brought more back with me.
I am hoping to return to Ireland sometime soon, but for various reasons it is not too easy to plan too far ahead at present. To prove how sad I can be when pushed, I decided to do a 'street view' of Mountrath in a south bound direction (Dublin - Roscrea) which turned out to be a 2009 view. Just as it was in the old days - bloody wagons everywhere (FNAARR, FNAARR!!) including one of L.I.F.T. Trans UK hauling a Guardian Glass trailer i.e. the firm I work(ed) for, driven by my mate Tony probably on his way back from Nenagh. I didn't expect that! Happy days ... sigh! Should I get the opportunity to sample 'proper' Guinness, I will give the Irish contingent fair warning so that they can leave the country in good time!!
Hiya, I'm new to the Triumph brigade had Honda,Suzuki and Yamaha before thought I'd try the Tiger 800 XRX just bought the 2015 model . Well I can say what a lovely bike seating position is good as I'm a bit on the short side, and the gearbox is so smooth, looking forward to the summer to really get out and about on it I'm sure you won't be disappointed like me.
I have just spent an hour practicing getting on and off the Tiger. Although I am 5'9" it is high and a totally different riding position to any bike I have had. Plus the panniers it means swinging my leg over is not going to be possible. Fully loaded it will have a tent, double sleeping bags and (amazingly tiny) chairs on the back. The practice went well and the months of yoga have come into their own. I can even get it on its centre stand although that is tricky as I have an arthritic hip. The doctor tells me that if I want to halt the spread of that I need to not go biking at all or at least in cold weather. Pah.
Not been on for a while, so welcome to flyer and Tallulah merry Christmas and a happy new year to all. Nice to see a fellow member from the NE.
Thanks Neil. You are looking quite slim in your avatar. I hope you have been eating well over the festive period.
Hi tallulah, I don't know if your doing it this way, but I find with the tiger if you have it on the side stand, put steering to full right lock, hold left grip with left hand, stand with left thigh/ hip next/close to tank, distance from seat up to you then pivot on left leg as your bent right leg slides over the seat knee first, I'm an old git with stiff joints and it makes it very easy. You can put it to any music you like !!
Ha ha ha ha. Despite the music I fear for the side stand doing it that way. I also can't bend at my right hip that well. So, I am right foot on right peg. Right hand on brake.left hand on tank. Gently lift left leg and lift over the seat as the bike begins to stand upright I am sat with both feet on ground. I had to work out a way that is manageable with tent on back. The karate style hop thing I do with the Triple is impossible on something this tall. Whoever said a couple of inches is irrelevant didn't have to avoid humiliation on their motorbike.
Yup I tried the karate style hop until I got my leg stuck on the seat, started getting cramp and couldn't drag it off or lift it, had to twist and hop so I was facing forwards and then pretty well do a forward roll!! I would have stood and watched too if I'd seen that happening! I think my waterproof trousers were too tight
But then that 'peaty boggy stuff' from the land of my ancient ain folk is rather nice too. Highland Park 12yo currenly on special offer in Tesco for £23. Load up. And welcome Tallulah!!! Them ancient forbears of mine eventually hiked it down your way and settled around Teeside.
