Scrambler Chain oilers

Had one on my Sprint and found it excellent, tried various grades of oil in it and it seemed to work best with 90 gear oil.
Highly recommended.

 

I've use Scottoilers for the last 20 years and found them excellent also.

 

Which one are you talking about? PD or Scottoiler? I only know about Scottoiler and with it there is no pump just an oil reservoir.

You don't say which bike you've got, to know if it'll fit, but the Scotty oil reservoir is approx 5" x 1".

I use this scottoiler v system as recommended by Biggy. It seems ok to me They have 2 systems 1 gravity fed and one fed electronically, the e system, this has a pump. I even think there is a mini system too. Look on the website and it will give fitting options

 

Everyone knows about Scottoilers, but these are a serious, cheaper, and imo speaking as one who has used both ,better alternative. http://www.pdoiler.co.uk/
The oiler will cable tie to the subframe high up where it will be almost hidden, and the controller with fit under the seat or outside the battery plastic moulding.

 

Funny enough I was looking at the Motobriz one the other day and I really like the whole idea, its just so simple.

 

Just bought a Loobman for the Trident but not had chance to fit it yet - hopefully at the weekend.

Well I've just had a look at this product and here's my thoughts for what they're worth:

1. Price - $79.95 for the complete kit inc. free shipping. If an extra $38 worth of shipping takes 6-10 days, you can imagine how long the delivery will be if you opt for the 'Free' shipping.

2. Maintenance - In addition to normal oil filling, if the installation includes the optional water trap (as it should imo) then that needs checking/emptying regularly; the felt pad applicator needs replacing every 5,000 mls.

3. Oil type - no specific oil type is recommended or supplied.

4. Oil delivery control - there is none. The delivery rate is factory pre-set.

 

Don't keep us in the dark biggy...your thoughts are......?

I have a Scottoiler for the first time... should I be getting oil sprayed (well, spotting) around the rear end of the bike? 120 mile has produced a liberal spread across the inside of the number plate, and splatters elsewhere, even on the seat.

 

Have you Tried turning the flow down? You're always going to get a bit of fling tho.

 

Hi Si, I find that you need to turn the valve down to almost 0 to avoid too much oil fling.

 

I have been using the scotoiler system on all my chain driven bikes since the early 1980s and highly rate them. However you have be patient when setting up the flow, if you are getting oil on the rear wheel/numberplate reduce the flow rate slightly until you get the right balance job done, remember ( life's to short to grow up)

 

Newbie error of the day... I turned the dial the wrong way, and managed to spread the contents of the Scotoiler across the entire rear end of the bike within 40 miles today. That's the last time I'll use intuition to make an adjustment. Old git status confirmed.
