Rode on the back seat of a Triumph 650 Thunderbird in 1958. Rode solo the first time on a Triumph 21 in 1959. Bought my first bike in 1962, a basket case Thunderbird with a TR6 front end. Bought second bike in 1963, a new T100. Even though my Mother said I would outgrow this passion for anything on two wheels, I am still riding some 60 years later after my first ride! 2nd date with my future bride was on that T100. We were still together after a half century (unfortunately, she passed away). I currently have a collection of 10 bikes including a 900 Trophy (British Racing Green of course!), and a recently purchased T140E. I am very pleased that at a soon to be 79 years old, that I can still kick start a bike to life. Life has been good....life still is good! Anyway, thanks for letting me join your group. I look forward to many conversations with people concerning the best looking and best sounding bike ever made.....the Triumph vertical twin.
Here are some pictures of my older triumph twins along with my fellow riders of 58 years ago (we are all still best friends). I am the one with the longest hair (and the gray in the last picture). The first picture is of my first motorcycle....T110 with TR6 front end. The other bikes in the group pictures are: Triumph Cub, Triumph Bonneville 1962 (I think), My Thunderbird, and Bonneville 1961 (I think).
The T100 was unusual as it had the "aprons" on the side, not like the scooter faring that was available. As a side, I sold this bike to purchase an engagement ring for my wife! My car was a 1959 Corvette. I peaked early in life!!
Something rare. Someone older than I am that still rides motorcycles ! Welcome from California . ...J.D.
