Thanks, @littleade . I'd be really interested to know how the mics fit on a full face. I have a Shoei XR and I'm not sure how a boom mic will fit if I'm wearing a neck warmer under the helmet strap. Any tips once you've see them would be very much appreciated.
What I want to know is ....if you have a Bluetooth intercom and your missus on the back, Why the fook do you need a satnav??
I'm looking at the Sena smh 10 on the recommendation of a friend. My SWMBO has her own bike which can lead to other problems e.g "I didn't want to stop yet." "I need a fag/pee stop" "I wanted to stop back there" "Which way do I go" It might save a lot of arm waiving and me trying to decipher what the bloody hell she's on about.
I was looking at the Sena units. The smh10 has been superseded by the 10S although it's not that easy to get online and isn't a lot cheaper than the 20S. I wonder if the smh10 will start to drop in price as the 10S becomes more established.
UUUUM! Don't know about this site but the Cardo Scala MK3 seems to be a good price compared to others
That's a hell of a saving, how can stores justify charging over £300 for them when you can get them for less than £200? I suppose if people pay, they will charge!
This is my method it's a twisty ride case,waterproof although I've never tested it and I can charge it on the go Ps what I phone have you got as I have a case that will fit he iPhone 4 as well Pps the Tom Tom app works great I went through France and onto Belgium and had no issues
I've got the 340LM I've had no problems with it though it's not quite as intuitive as you might expect.Though as with many gadgets once you've sussed it it's not that bad.I leave the mount on all the time,wet and dry and had no issues. Don't even think about using Base Camp,it's a bloody nightmare to be honest,use TYRE it's free and uses the old Google maps,you can keep routes as a file or put them directly on to the unit. It will plan it's own routes if you want and you can put in avoidance's if you want to avoid tolls etc. It's not the all singing all dancing model but it does what I want for a reasonable price.
this is the one that I have. works a treat.. not Irish rain proof so get a food bag taped around it and gaffa tape- can still operate it through the bag and works just fine. Maps good. keeps up with me better than a Garmin.
Hi, I have been using Garmins for the last twenty yrs and my present one is a 390 LM which comes witj bike mount for fixing to the hadlebars,but I usually by a bespoke mount through bob telfer @ telferizer.com as they are much better. Also the Garmin bike specific units are waterproof and also come with fittings for car use. I cant reccomend them high enough having used them for toring all over Europe and thosands of miles with no issues. They do get a bit of getting used to but once mastered their is no looking back. I've got the Zumo 590 and am very happy with it. I have my phone connected to it so I can use the Zumo screen to choose my music and play it back via my Sena Headset. I chose it over the Tom Tom because of the TFT Screen which gives good vision in bright sun lite and also because of the lifetime map updates. I watched a couple of reviews on YouTube which gave it a good review except one by a BMW guy in the US. However, all the negative points he came up with were incorrect. So it must have been his set up.
It certainly does reinform directions just before the junction, a lot of info both verbally and pictorialy
As previously stated, I too use a Garmin......One other thing I also really like is their 'Lane Guide' display, where it shows a 'picture' of the junction when you approach on the Motorway etc to help guide you into the right lane. Comes in handy quite a bit, especially when using M-Way to M-Way junctions where the lanes on the signs etc aren't always the clearest and helps to eliminate having to suddenly switch at the last second!
I use a TT Rider and it's worked great for me. First big use was on a trip down through France and along the med coast last year. The unit was spot on. It also has a really smart "scenic" mode so instead of going from A to B on the fastest routes you just tap scenic and it'll take you on the best biking roads. This was really great last year in the South of France and I ended up on some fantastic stretches of road I would never have found otherwise. It also has the 3D lane guidance which is very handy on motorways etc. Speed camera (UK & Europe) warnings are excellent too and are really a must have nowadays.
Hi Well. I'm still using my I phone with Tom Tom app down loaded on it and it been brilliant It also has lane guidance on motorways and has a twisty ride route for us motorcyclists I found some new roads to ride using Tom Tom awesome bit of kit
Found this thread really useful. Looking to get Mrs Yaya on the back of the Bonnie this year, and I know she'll want to chat to me. I bought a cheap as chips Bluetooth head set with a pillion set last year from Aldi for £30. I took it out the box, looked at it, and dismissed it. The bracket was too small to attached to my Shoei QWEST. However, I might see if I can use a sticky pad. For £30 I'm happy to give it a try and throw away if naff. Think I'll try the Tom Tom app as well, got a perfectly good IPhone so a decent case, bracket and app will cost a lot less than a new satnav.
