    Hi All
I needed a new battery for my van and some new wiper blades for the cars so thought this would be the ideal time to crack out the Halfords Trade Card. Set up a new account, punched in the card number and it rejects it saying no trade card can be found with that criteria! Anyone else had problems?

I did have problems when they pointed the card reader at it but when number imputed manually, it was accepted. I hadn't used the card for a while and put it down to that

Yes, I had the exact same problem a couple of weeks ago!

I set-up an online account early last year, used it three or four times using 'click and collect', then went to use it again a couple of weeks ago and, despite the fact that it showed my Trade card number, my purchase history and my account details, when I tried to make a purchase it said that my card number could not be found! Bizarre.

I phoned the customer support number - a soul-destroying experience at best - and went through the rigmarole of an age and a day on hold; inane questions and the advisor trying every which way to access the account or find the non-existent-but-still-active trade card number before being, eventually, advised that "the new computer system" they'd introduced recently might be the source of the problem....... I was advised to present the card at my nearest store and have a new one issued!

I did go to a nearby Halfords store and, to be fair, the young lady who handled my enquiry was very helpful indeed. She, too, was baffled that the card appeared to show on the 'system' but wasn't recognised by the store card readers. After a number of attempts on various terminals in the store and with a lot of trial and error on the store systems she managed to get the card 'activated' again, though even she was baffled by how and why it failed and, likewise, how and why it suddenly sprung back to life!

My advice would be to go in-store and ask somebody to check the card - worst case scenario, they'll issue a new card which will need to be registered! I would NOT recommend phoning the help line - unless you actually feel the need to waste a valuable hour or so of your life!

I personally find that it's useful to use the on-line system to check the Tradecard discounted prices against other suppliers and also to have purchases ready to collect and go.

That's exactly what I was trying to do. I had prices from Euro Car Parts but wanted to compare. I phoned my local Halfords and asked what the prices would be using the trade card but the bloke said he wouldn't know until it went through the till. I just got it all from Euro Car Parts.

    Fuck off you nosy cunt
I don't have a local hellfrauds, nearest in Inverness, 200 mile round trip.

Anyhoo, one day was in Inverness with time to kill, waiting to meet up with somebody on hellfrauds carpark (parts swap, he had a gearbox for me, I had a 24v generator for him, we are both around 100 miles from the snakey) Hellfrauds is easy to find.

Mrs wants one of those blind spot mirrors, so I pop in to the pit of iniquity that is hellfrauds. Can I find one? So go to the spotty oik on the desk/till... "Hi, can you tell me where the blind spot mirrors are please?"

He looks at me like I'm a dog turd he trod in and says "Curiously, they are with the mirrors".

I'm afraid I told him to get off his fkin lazy arse and find them for me. No, he couldn't find them either. So I said "That's curious, innit? Thank you for your oh so invaluable help." and left.

And that's the last time I went in hellfrauds, must be about 8 years ago.

Always used mine on the website with no problems. Always check the prices but they do tend to be cheapest especially for Adblue for the OH's car. Just log into my account and get the 'trade' prices for click and collect.
