    Hello people,
Just joined up as I'm looking into possibly getting a 900 thunderbird next. Anything to look out for and any variations more desireable than others? If anyone has one for sale in the south east I might be interested.
    Cheers.

Hi Doc 4 , They say the sprag on the starter motor is an issue, but mine has been fine. Just make sure you have a good battary. I have to say they are a great bike. I enjoyed doing a rebulid on my one. Other things to keep in mind is if you do your own services, to change the air filter you have to remove the carbs ( a real pain) Triumph want you to change the whole airbox but K&N do a replacment filter that is much better i think.Getting to the centre spark plug is fun too. Also if you need to get Fork seals, Triumph used two types of forks with a 1mm Difference in diamater so check which one is on your bike before ordering. Other than that all good so far. best of luck with your choice.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
As a Trident owner I can vouch for all the things Wayne said (apart from spog).

    Thanks for the replies chaps.

I am now looking into the differences between the Legend and Thunderbird, it seems they are minimal but seat height, wheel sizes and engine finish are not the same. Anything else that you know of?

I think they are the main differences - seat height 750mm for a T Bird and 725mm for the Legend? I think this is due to a slightly different sub-frame and possibly suspension set up?
    MCN review said:

"The Triumph Legend TT is a slightly more basic, cheaper version of the Triumph Thunderbird which rides fine – slightly better even, truth be told – but only looks good to those who wear sunglasses indoors. Which, in our book, defeats half the point. Unless you love the Triumph Legend TT's black engine etc, we recommend you go for a T-Bird."

Bit harsh perhaps but that's MCN for you.

Both nice bikes, i think it comes down to what you like, black or Chrome.
