On a Saturday night we like to get trollied and listen to our favourite bands, all rock music from all eras. What do you guys listen to ? Perhaps stick on a youtube vid to introduce us to some new stuff.....? my favourite band at the moment....
WTF has happened to Planet Rock? They play great music, but every other song has a promo to it, or rock 'festival' or new lp, just got un-bearable now. The 'dj's' are sickening, that Wyatt (anogram of Twatty!@ is unbelievable with him trying to be 'contoversial', he's so childish he needs to grow up, then next you have that awful drone of Darren Reddick, and week-ends are not much better with slimy Sam Hughes and on Sunday the Hairy Bikers busting their ball trying to be funny but not succeeding! I like most of the others excepting that Mojo Rocks bloke, but so many of the shows are repeated too often! How to feck up a radio station in one easy lesson. Bauer , the owners, are a big company based in Peterborough, they own all of the Absolute stations, Sala, Mustard insurance, Motorcycle News and various other businesses, perhaps getting too big and taking their eye off the ball? I've tuned into Hart 70's for now, atleast no annoying dj's.
Can't be doing with the radio now... Its all "chooons" and "throwbacks". "DJ Dickwad plays throwback chooons from 2019". Yeah. Shoulda thrown him back too. Mostly soulless recycled technopap anyways. I like Thin Lizzy, Rainbow, Motorhead, though there is some modern stuff. Quite like Avicii.. Or did. Well, do, but there won't be any new... Clean Bandit...... Ella Ayre has a good voice... Trouble is a lot of new stuff sounds the same.
I love all the modern stuff... AC/DC, Metallica, Ozzy, Lynard Skynard, Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Sammy Hagar, Guns n Roses, Santana... I also love some of the not so recents... Led Zep, Rush, all the Black Sabbaths, Dio, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis... An almost endless list that I can’t pull off the top of my head! but you’re right about GVF, they’re very good (in the Classic Rock/LED Zep mould) Have you tried listening to “the Blues Pills” or “the Vintage Caravan”??? Both awesome live bands...
Juist heard a fantastic Rock Opera group called NIGHT WISH, WOW!!!!!!!!!! Latest single is 'Noise' heard it on Planet Rock twice, it just grabbed me, so You-tubed it and they are incredable! The othe vids are just as good. I'd love to see them live. Terry
I have a pretty wide ranging record collection, ranging from Matt Monro, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, through Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac, Joe Jackson, Eagles, various jazz - musical stuff like Dave Brubeck or Oscar Peterson, various blues - Keb Mo, Albert King, through to U2, Dire Straits, Prince, White Stripes. . . . . However, most of the time I'm relaxing with some folky stuff like Mary Black, Eddi Reader Very little from the last few years and definitely no rap!
