Hi I wonder if you guys can help. The kickstart on my bike goes right round from about 10.30 to past 3.00 oclock it almost broke my knee when I first tried it! Should there be a stop fitted and if so where do try to find it.
    Thanks in advance. Graham.

The stop is at the resting position and held there by the clockwork spring inside the cover so the lever should be at 10/11 o'clock ish resting. The lever will go anti clockwise all the way to the bottom and further.

The resting position is as you say but its when it goes past the bottom and still going forward and back up that it hurts the knee. I wondered if there should be a stop at the bottom??
    Thanks Graham

Put another turn on the spring poss as if your foot reaches the bottom of the kick its lack of spring coiling allowing it to go further as you can't kick uphill.

Thought I would give a little more information. When I start the bike I used to jump a little, lock my knee and use my weight to drive down and start the bike. It always started first kick but hurts the knee when it goes past the bottom and back up. If I just sit on the seat and use my leg its no problem but can take a few more kicks to get it started.
So just wondered if there should be a stop at the bottom. Graham

You either have abnormally strong legs ...or very little compression.;)
