Agreed, must be either wrong helmet or perhaps glasses. I have two helmets with flip down internal sun visors, a Bell RS-2 and AGV K5-S, both really comfortable and no issues with glasses or visors.
Not sure I was clear about my visors, but it’s only the internal sun visors that clip the specs when lowered. Ken.
Hi yes I figured that it would be the internal drop down sun visor that would be more likely to catch specs when lowered... as people have said it must be the helmet unless your specs are unusually large ... could go into J & S accessories or similar and try a few helmets on just to see where the prob is... I get all my helmets & stuff from J & S and in Nottingham they are really helpful ... have tried lots of helmets on before finding the best fit with specs .. hope helpful
Both my helmets are Cabergs, one flip front and one open front. Both are medium and (Balaclava beneath) both are reasonably tight, however, at speeds around 100 the outer screen on the open front helmet sometimes actually pushes against my face. The flip front is just too heavy for a neck like mine afflicted with Spondylitis. Might have to just use sun glasses like that Henry Cole chap! . And stick to 20 mph, or less like Henry. Ken.
I had a pare of glasses from Optilabs they do various styles for all sorts of applications, mine came with standard and enclosed type arms and side covers [if used for shooting] and a nose cover you simply fit to suit.
The beauty of BELL and other class helmets is that they have a full range of shell sizes and don't just simply use different size padding
Lot of talk of trying the new helmets with your glasses. Dont forget to take your helmet when getting new glasses. Specsavers think i'm a bit wierd i think but it has saved me from buying unsuitable frames more than once.
Yep been wearing specs for some time now and I take my helmet with me to specsavers every time I need a new pair of glasses. I think my local branch are now used to me as they never even blink now when I turn up.
My Bell helmet is indeed the Custom 500 standard. Actually I bought the more expensive 'deluxe' version which is just the same but comes with useless bag/peak/visor.... the 'standard' i.e. helmet-only not being available at the time.
