Last year or so I was involved in the engineering of a bacon processing plant. They produce 3 million pounds per year of pre-cooked bacon. At the time I had never heard of pre-cooked bacon before. It's used by institutional facilities, fast food restaurant, and lazy people I guess. It can be stored at normal room temperature for extended periods. Highly mechanized procedure with extremely little human contact. Bacon is cooked in 100 meter long non stop conveyor microwave ovens. All drippings (fat) are collected and piped to a couple of 15,000 gallon tanks to be transferred to tanker trucks. I heard the fat is as vauluable as the bacon. Meat comes in raw via reefer trucks, is pickled, and smoked, sliced, cooked and packaged. Production runs last a few days, and them entire plant is shut down and sanitized. Thought I would share this after talk of bacon butties.

I don't consume much bacon myself, probably less than a pound a year. As an extra to some sandwiches. So what would you think of bacon scented douche? Might be crazy enough to work.
