Taking a run up to Moffat is a common occurrence for me during the summer. Love the roads around there, Dalveen , or Wanlockhead and leadmills were my favourite last summer.
We'll have to organise a gathering in Moffat again, I did one a few years back. Rode up over Talla & Megget.
StMarys cafe is going strong, do good food, stopped there for GMU on two occasions.

FYI - I'm Ron, of the loud Aprilia , enjoy both a bimble and tearing it up.

I was thinking that I should take the battery out for the winter and Optimate it on the bench. I would have thought it would be a weak seal with a cable going into the bag.

What are the implications for the bike if the battery is removed for a few months? Any idea what would happen to the digital info in the instruments?

When my bike is covered in the garage I put a small (40 watt max.) adjustable tubular electric heater (300mm long) underneath the engine. Keeps nice and condensation free under the cover.

Welcome John. A perfect 10/10 score for your introduction.

just so you know we have a lot in common. I too live South of Scotland. Surrey actually.

It will be great to read about, and see some bike/vista photos from your rides!

    Welcome!

Hi John & welcome from another A701 local.

It's good on here, you'll enjoy the crack. I've been heading down Moffat way regularly for years now on all sorts of different bikes (I'm partial to a part-ex now and again) so may see you in the Rumblin' Tum one day.

Nice bike btw.... I had a Street Twin for a year or so back in 2016

There's a great wee chippie up a side street, :)
near Buccleuth Arms, much better than the one on the front near the post office

Great to know. Next time I’m feeling peckish I’ll pop in for a meal, although it may have gone cold by the time I get home...
