    Hey everyone,
    Glad to be here.
My name is Simon from Lausanne Switzerland. I'm a rooky in term of motorbike.
    I'm driving a KTM 530 EXC supermoto and a Yamaha XSR900.
Love my bike but want to only have one that fit to my requirement.

I have lot of interest for triumph, for the history behind the brand.
I have my eyes on the speedtwin actually.
Hope to find the answer to make my choice.
    See you
    Simon

Welcome to the family. Cracking looking steed you have there. Best advice for the triumph is test as many as you can and get a good test not just a mile up the road and back. And do test the tiger it is in the same lines as what you got there.
    Regards & Ride Safe

Hi and welcome. I was in Switzerland in August ... sorry I didn't see you !!. I stayed in Sedrun (Tujetsch). You have great roads and beautiful scenery - the mountain passes are very special. Enjoy your biking and ride safe.

Ahah I can totally imagine , I went to the Triumph dealer for testing speed twin and I did it I enjoyed but as I said bit disappointed with front fork, the dealer showed me
The 9t ans it was so pure , when you set the 1at gear there is no sound it’s like so smooth.
In a minute I felt so confident with turn position and break.
Engine was really powerful and so on and so on.

but my heart goes for the speed twin in term of design and history.

about fiability I don’t really know sinceI guess bmw has the 9t engine on many of their model and it seems to be the model for everything.

I will give a second try to the speed twin.

i could think about changing front and shocker but than price can be compare to 9t.

i should open a thread to speak about this.

Anyway thanks for the warm welcome.

mid you pass by Switzerland I would be glad to show you some beautiful place , I think it’s a dream country to ride in, but it’s also the best country to get poor in a second with speed camera ahah

Hi Simon and welcome. I had a look at the options recently, when I thought about swapping my Tiger 800 and R1200S for one bike. It came down to the Speed Twin or R9T, and on paper it was the R9T - just. But on the road, I marginally preferred the Speed Twin - it was a warmer day, and I just felt completely at one with the ST. In the end, I couldn't make up my mind, so still own the Tiger and the Beemer.

I was fortunate enough to get a 3-week business trip to Basel (Basle?) in the 1990s. A Swiss colleague warned me that the locals wouldn't be very friendly - not unfriendly, just reserved and not welcoming.

But I had the best time ever. I hardly had an evening on my own. Everyone I met wanted to make sure I was well looked after. Ended up with an invitation to a wedding.

I did the round trip (rundfahrt) from Lucerne (boat across the lake, train up Mt Pilatus, cable car down the other side, and bus back to Lucerne). Met a couple of people on the boat and struck up a friendship with them. Back in Lucerne, we decided to look at the famous art work in the ancient wooden bridge (sadly burned down a year or so later), and then walk along the city wall.

Went into one of the towers on the wall and there was a party going on. We apologised and turned to go, but one guy said, "we're having a school reunion party, but please join us. The beer is in that corner, the food is over there. Help yourself and have a great time".

I will always remember Switzerland as a wonderful, friendly, generous and welcoming place. Back in the office, my Swiss colleague didn't believe what a great time I'd had. He was a nice guy too.

    Grüezi mate!

You picked the best forum north of the alpine range :p

They even let me in as a German! (As you know: we lack any kind of humor whatsoever...)

Buy a Triumph! Absolutely gorgeous bikes. And I should know: Just got my first BMW :yum (NineT/5)
Just kidding. I am one of the ‚Coming Outs‘ mentioned above...

Have a good time with us and do not be distracted by the fact that each and every thread goes off-topic after the third post :D

    Cheers!
