Thanks for your comments guys Seems it is a stick radiator cap, SOS Motorcycles were brilliant, topped up the radiator and the expansion tank - water only. Ran the engine hot and checked the pipes, none were solid and water was flowing through the radiator. I will drive the bike home and change the radiator cap for a new one - Take the train for the rest of the week and flush the cooling system at the weekend. And hope that solves it
Hi there RR, I'm going a long way tomorrow to collect it so I don't want to say too much until it's in my grimy mitts - but it's not a Triumph . Still got the Bonny though..................................
Thanks Wayne, All the dealing negotiations have been done. It's just going to be relatively complicated going up to the Belgium border to collect it.Hopefully the ride home though will prove satisfying.
Well biggy it had better be the KTM or the Honda or the kwakka or the KTM, the suspense is doing me in, more important does it mean you keep bonnie?
Mostly today I had to struggle through work, in order to go straight to the dealers and PICK IT UP Unfortunately, at least until the Essex Air Ambulance Run on Sunday, I'll only get to potter to and from work using my measly allowance of 3500rpm. But on the plus side (for now), the dealership did hand it over to me in LOUD mode (baffles out), which is great sounding and makes me laugh on the overrun........in the long run I suspect these will have to be put in, I think everyday it may start to get a bit loud......especially for the neighbours! We'll see Obviously the most important thing was done almost as soon as I got home.....Forum sticker added to the fly screen......can't get the computer to let me add a picture, not sure why
Great news Dave, get that piccie Up soon, make sure the file size ain't too big, I know you want to show here in her full glory but not all of us want her as a poster on our wall!!
You are truly a daft bastid Andno,to the rest of the world -it's not a BMW,or a Triumph. Let me give you a clue - it has 150 bhp; 4 rider modes all adjustable; ABS and Traction control; electronic suspension ????? Oh and it is absolutely beautiful ......................................................
Very excited for you, just wish it was a Triumph Topped up the coolant as the expansion tank was dry again! I need to do a complete flush of the coolant system, Triumph recommend the Castrol Motorbike Coolant, but do I really need to use dedicated motorbike coolant, can't I use the 'normal' stuff? Also, is Wetter Water worth it as an additive to keep the temp down? Plus a video of my bike letting off steam I have new boots...more chunky... that's why I had difficulty getting her into neutral.
The colour looks like something from a big budget fantasy film - it's kind of metallic burnished orange.
got the seat back today, guy used new foam and recovered.£45 looks an a1 job ...only time will tell so took it for a run seems a little rough at idle ..maybe add some redex treatment.. a good long run and a couple of tanks of fuel should sort it.
A couple of days late but there you go. Took my st1050 up to Scotland for the long weekend with my Son on his Honda (sic). Boarded with my brother in Edinburgh and toured the Trossachs and lochs across to the Green Welly Stop (highly recommended) and eventually Gretna Green before home. 962 miles in all and the weather held till we hit the M6 on the way back.
today planned a little run out but..... rear brakes rubbing on disks , heard the metal to metal noise when pushing bike out of lock up, so new pads ordered and some more brake fluid, also noticed an oil on garage floor, brakes first... any helpfull hints...hopefully straight forward enough..
