Hi all once more, bit of an update, using a very fine pot scourer, plenty of rubbing compound, kept wet with WD40 loads of elbow grease and about 1 &1/2 hours on each header, and lots off rag, finishing with chrome polish I have achieved a good result.
Some say they will be blue again after about 15mins, I don't know, but if they do, they can bloody well stay blue.
Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.
    Mallywoods.

Yes all true. I have a 2015 scrambler. Been running it with the marble trick for a year and the bike ran great with the ttp tune. Trouble is I went to remove the whole system yesterday and it has loads of water in the tubes! Better off scrapping the whole Ai system all together!!

Mine have turned blue on the left hand side. The dealer polished it out and said ‘ it happens ‘. (Also polished off the skin and fingerprints that someone left on the right hand side one this morning)
    Well, I don’t like it !

My 865cc T100 has blued pipes for the first 12”, both sides. The PO removed the sai pipework and fitted Dunstalls, plus some sort of aggressive engine management programme.

I refitted the original silencers, fitted Motone “big fin” exhaust clamps (because I thought that was what a Bonneville should have!) and had the bike serviced and retuned.

It isn’t any slower, to speak of; maybe a bit less at the top end, which I don’t really use anyway. It has MUCH better manners in traffic and around town. The blueing hasn’t progressed any further.
