2008 Bonneville Black Exaust Question

I'd say it has mufflers off another triumph model that don't quite fit as standard, that is to adapt and so link together headers to mufflers

Replace them with stock pipes, easy to do and not too expensive, all depends if the price on the bike is ok

 

Looks like its had the reverse cone silencers (mufflers) fitted off the cast wheel version of the Bonneville rather than the standard pea shooters found on the T100. It looks to be a bit of a bodge so you could follow MadMrB's advice and get yourself a new link pipe.

Just noticed the strange extra foot peg bolted across the front of the down-pipes - putting that in the bin would be my first job!

 

Also lift up fork gaiter n check the fork legs as it should have just the boots or the guards not both.

 

Tend to agree with you. 2008, 25000 miles and $5500 (£4500 for us) seems a bit steep.
My 2012 SE with 1800 miles was $5800 by comparison. (And no silly mods!)

 

Looks like a (probably harmless?) botch-up. Demand the dealer sorts it before you offer any cash; why take on worries?
