After a brilliant tour of Scotland at the start of August on my BMW R1200S, I decided I could do with something with a more relaxed riding style, so bought myself a Tiger 800. It is a 2013 model, but had only done 300+ miles when I picked it up last Saturday.

It's my first Triumph. I joined the forum a few months ago, when I thought I wanted a Sprint ST, but since changed my mind after riding a BMW F800R and deciding what I really wanted was something similar (sit-up-and-beg), but not another BMW. So after a bit of looking round and test rides, I settled on the Tiger 800.

It's a lovely bike to ride and I'm really looking forward to a few long rides on it. The only tiny, tiny gripe is the screen - the turbulence rattles my head a bit, but I'll try it at full height next ride to see if that helps. It's the tall screen rather than the standard, I believe. I'm 5' 10"

Hi jock, welcome back, there has been a lot of interest in the 800 lately and as you say the screen seems to be a major gripe! There is a thread going on here about it and who's used what. Nice to hear it's a goody, I'm still trying to sneak one in he collection.

    Hi Jock and welcome in.

Re the screen, I know what I'm about to say will sound daft, but it will work. Take the screen right off the the bike and test ride - No more turbulence? I thought so.

I'm just on the point of buying either a Tiger 800 XCX or a KTM 1050 Adventure for the same reasons as you and found if I took the screen right off it was sooooooooooooh much quieter.

    I'm 6'1" btw.

I have a Tiger800 (road version) and am 6'. There are loads of options, but most riders have to work out for themsleves which is for them.

Powerbronze sport screen, very short so gives smooth air but reduced protection.
Puig (or other make) deflector fitted to top of Triumph touring screen (the one I think you have), this is cheap and effective, think it's not so good in crosswind conditions.
Puig or Givi touring screens, medium price good compromise ... I have the Puig touring screen fitted.
Madstad, expensive and the total solution, you buy the height to suit you (18" or 20" I guess for you).

you may come up with other options ... good luck!!
