Hi guys, been away from biking for 10yrs. Now back with a lovely well kept 07 955i Tiger and want to keep it that way. I live in Scotland, so before i go in anywhere and just get lost at what i`m looking for what do you guys clean your bikes with. Everything from taking off the flies from the front screen to cleaning the engine and wheels. By the way i know i stay in the background of this site but well done, some great reading and pictures from all over the world. Congrats Noddy Keith. Scotland
I use Honda spray cleaner and polish, stuff is like magic!! HONDA 08732-SCP00 Spray Cleaner and Polish, 12 oz., 1 Can https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004FSEJZA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_c0YMDbXJQFRN7
I use Silkolene Wash Off or Muc-Off Motorcycle Cleaner https://www.silkolene.com/motorcycle/cleaning/wash-off/ https://muc-off.com/collections/motorcycle-step-1-clean/products/nano-tech-motorcycle-cleaner Best price for Silkolene Wash Off is M&P: https://www.mandp.co.uk/products/fuchs-silkolene-wash-off-cleaner-5-litre-578271 For washing I use Autoglym Car Shampoo. Between washes, and for removing bugs, I use Autoglym Rapid Detailer: https://www.autoglym.com/rapid-detailer For polishing paintwork I use Autoglym Super Resin Polish: https://www.autoglym.com/products/bodywork/polish/super-resin-polish For paintwork waxing and protection I use Muc-Off Miracle Shine: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Muc-Off-Miracle-Shine-Polish-500/dp/B000PEDSIM (also great on mirror glass). For stainless steel I use Autosol Metal Polish: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Autosol-Metal-Polish-75-ml/dp/B003XJ1ODM For chrome, I use GT50 sprayed on a cloth if it just needs a wipe over, or otherwise Mothers Mag & Aluminium Polish (also good on stainless): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mothers-Mag-Aluminium-Polish-5oz/dp/B00068GEJM After cleaning I use GT50 or Silkolene Pro Prep for general protection, but I don't ride much in winter when there is salt on the roads. Many people use ACF50 as a protective spray, which gives far more protection than GT50 etc.
HaHa i wish. Can`t even get her on the back never mind clean it lolololol. Thanks guys, looks like i`m going shopping Noddy
Welcome to the madhouse you should fit right in. To keep the inmates happy we will need photos. Tucker
Hi Keith Welcome back to biking after your break. To clear flies off the screen and helmet visor, I still use wet kitchen role, laid on to loosen and soften the critters for around 15 minutes and then they come off very easily. As far as the bike cleaning goes, it is personal choice, I personally don't like muc off as it is basically traffic film remover diluted and made a pretty colour. S100doc is my preferred choice if it is really dirty but otherwise normal turtle wax etc in warm water. Before anything else though, to protect again salt and crud, give the bike a good coating of ACF50 and then clean it off in spring if it is looking dirty. I find the best way of buying it is in a 1 litre bottle with sprayer for around £24 delivered from internet. Pour some into the sprayer and place the sprayer in warm water to 'thin' the solution to make coverage easier or warm original bottle and then pour.
Hi Keith, and welcome in I find rain works well to remove flies, and a good 10 minute clean once every 3-4 months with turtle wax car shampoo and a dry off with a chamois leather keeps it looking sharp
Thanks for all the tips guys. Brilliant. Just one thing. I go by the name of Noddy (my old cb handle). I come from Keith in Morayshire, Scotland. lololololol
Welcome aboard Nobby, enjoy your new steed, take it steady while you get acquainted with each other and as above, pics please
If you paint Harpic toilet cleaner onto the headers ( black bottle) leave 10 mins and then wash off - headers look like new. Seriously an American told me about this and the results are superb.
Harpic Power Plus Max - It does work on stainless steel but I would not leave it on for 10 mins, just wipe it on the headers and you can see it working almost immediately, and clean off thoroughly. Be careful not to get it on anything else like painted surfaces, I also would not use it on chrome. It contains Hydrochloric Acid!!
I tried it on the swinging arm on gsx1400 - they have a rough finish - all the baked on red ingress washed straight off. I agree not to put on painted surfaces, my headers when washed looked like they came out of the box.
Hi Noddy and welcome to the forum I use ACF50 each year even though they don’t salt our roads. Turtle wax wash each month and spray detailer for touch ups. Daily rider. Looking forward to seeing your beautiful ride after it’s clean
