I‘ve been lurking for a while and thought it time to say 'Hi'. After a break of nearly 20 years I decided to get back into the saddle and bought myself a new Speedmaster a couple of months ago. I wasn’t sure about the handle bars and foot controls so I test rode a Bobber too, then decided I liked the Speedmaster’s forward controls but not it’s bars, so I plumped for the straight ones from the Bobber. As my prospective pillion had never been on a bike before I also went for backrest and comfy seat to give them every chance of taking to bikes. Fortunately, after a nervous start they enjoyed it a lot — though 'comfort' seat is probably going to get modded.
Welcome bm. Lovely bike. I agree with you - I'd put straight bars on if I had one - but others love the riding position. Enjoy the ride mate.
Hi and welcome, enjoy your new ride. For me the beach bars was one on the many reasons I went for the speedmaster; I just love the bike.... Wessa
It may be my feeble muscles, but under acceleration or with the wind blast at speed it felt like my hands might slip off the grips on the beach bars, so even though I liked the riding position I wen't with the 'safer' option. Though, they're a bit too straight to my liking so I can see that being something I change in the future...
Just got a Speedmaster myself. I found the same issues with the beach bars. I'm tall so the flat bobber bars have me leaning too much. Would love to hear from others that switched the bars out for something more relaxed.
Brown Mouse. Welcome to the family. Really is a nice bike and mostly I agree with your comments. The inmates here in the asylum will ogle that picture for ages. Nursey will get the rounds done quickly while they are all quite. Regards & Ride Safe. Joe.
Welcome aboard, that's a nice looking bike you have acquired, stay around and have lot's of laughs at and with the bunch of nutters on here
