I have an 07 Speed Triple with a plastic tank. It shows no sign of ethenol damage at the moment but I was wondering if it is worth syphoning the tank dry every so often and leaving it to breathe for a couple of days to let the ethenol evaporate out.

Never heard of that before. Do think most of the tanks are treated inside these days to cope with the ethanol. It spillage and splashing that gets the paint work. That is why I use a good wax polish to help.

    In the UK,
The pumps now have to carry E5 signage by law. This signifies up to 5% Ethanol so unfortunately now this chemical is unavoidable.

As far as I was aware, by what I've read, all vehicles can accept this level without issue. ;)

Ethanol absorbs water which then sinks and sits at the bottom of the tank quietly rusting it away, assuming that the tank is a steel one! Even super unleaded seems to be infected with the bloody stuff these days!

I burn non ethanol E0 in my mowers, chainsaws and other implements of yard destruction, because the Eshit only has a shelf life of a few weeks.

What do you mean, ‘leaving it to breathe’.
How are you going to do that, if you leave the fuel cap open then you will be inviting moisture laden air into the petrol tank and if there’s any trace of fuel left inside then the moisture will be absorbed by the ethanol.
Ethanol is Hydroscopic it absorbs moisture.
